Just thought I'd mention that today's the day he goes back in. Surgery to remove a kidney is scheduled for 11:30 AM. I don't expect to be back at the computer for quite a while, but good thoughts are appreciated and as soon as I can I'll post about how he's doing. Thanks, everyone.

Pat,
My vibes to you and Bob. Two years ago they thought I had kidney cancer and I went in to have it removed. I dodged a big bullet that day. It wasn't and I still have my kidney. But I sort of understand the thoughts and feelings going into this situation, a little bit anyway. So you have my heart.

Jay

Pat,
Will be thinking of you and that everything goes well for Bob.
High hopes heading your way that he will be back out on the dance floor with you before you know it. <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Best wishes for Bob, Pat! I tried to call the house a couple of days ago and I think I got the butler, Mr. Roboto.....at least that's what his voice sounded like.

Thank you all. Blundervibes worked well. He came through the surgery well. They don't know yet if the tumor was cancerous, but it was too big to leave any of the kidney but his prognosis is good either way. He was doing so well that they felt he didn't need to go to ICU after recovery and went to a room on the post-surgical floor. He was reasonably comfortable and in good spirits tonight, so I'm very hopeful that his recovery won't be too bad at all. And, it turned out that his OR nurse was a long lost cousin who we hadn't seen since he was a kid. Small world, eh?
