Just a little note, I have never really written to Arlo before. I just wanted him to know we are related. Jack guthrie (Leon Jerry Guthrie) was my grandfather. When Jack married Ruth (the second one) they had a son Jerry Leon Guthrie, Who is my father. That would make Arlo and I Cousins (well in some way). If Arlo's Father and My grandfather were cousins then yeah I guess in som way we are cousins too. I have always known of the wonderful music that Arlo and Woody, and Jack have done, but I have never had the courage to write. I always thought I would be dismissed as some crazy fan. Well fan I am, crazy I am not. Just thought I would say Hi, and introduce myself thats all.

If we assume your grandfather and Woody were First Cousins (I'm sure someone else around here can confirm/deny that) then just for the record that would make you a Second Cousin Once Removed from Arlo.
Or, better yet, a Third Cousin to the G-Babes (or Third Cousin Once Removed if you consider Krishna)

Welcome Jenniffer, yes Arlo does come here oftern, but you could also send him a privet message if you like. If you look at the top of the page there are some buttons, click on the members list button and Arlo will be there as 'adg' .

Speaking of relatives and sharing of surnames, Jennifer, I notice that you are from the Grand Canyon State. Your governor and I have the same surname, but we're not related (unfortunately for me, but fortunately for her!). How do you rate the job she's doing?

As far as Cheryl is concerned, you need to know that she is probably the most devoted and dedicated Arlo nut on here, and has already been unanimously voted into the Blunder Hall of Fame.

Abe's birthday is April 1. Maybe it's a recessive gene or something.

howdy partners, jack was, in my arrogant opinion, the king of cowboy crooners. i'm guessing after meeting many of the people who post here that most are not familiar with jack's music. jennifer, you may have access to it through your family, but if not, there is a guy on ebay that sells his radio transcripts. these were songs recorded just prior to his death for radio play. the quality is incredible considering that they were recorded prior to 1948. they even have electric guitar on them. the story goes that jack spent more time promoting his career than his health, causing his early death from t.b. ironically he recorded one of the best versions of t.b. blues i've ever heard. i'm quite certain, that had he lived, he would be as well known as bob wills, jimmy rodgers, roy acuff, gene autry or hank williams. i'd like to challenge you blunderites to add to your overly bloated arlo collections. go out and find some of jacks music. the fact that you only know of jack (except for those of you i drug out to the parking at the last church shows) through arlo's oklahoma hill's story is a crying shame. a talent like his should be listened to and appeciated just as woody's is. welp, enough of my preaching. see y'all later on down the trail. p.s. jennifer.... the best way to meet arlo is to go to a show and hang out afterwards. he almost always comes back out to meet and greet and sign autographs. the best way to meet these crazy fans (blunderites) is to come to the fall church shows. we have a big tailgate party every year.
