Saw Arlo tonight and am still too wound up to sleep.To see Pete Seeger's grandson and Woody Guthrie's grandson on the same stage with Arlo there bridging the generations is nothing less than amazing. Just hearing the names of the legendary folk heroes Arlo grew up amongst while listening to his blend of new and old masterpieces leaves you dumbfounded! And The Mammals sent me scampering from my seat at the break to buy a CD and wanting more. For anyone who's never been to the Chautauqua Amphitheater, you can't appreciate how the open sides and sunken amphtheatre lend a feeling of casualness and comfort to such a fantastic performance. And thanks Arlo for hanging around so long signing autographs and talking to fans when I'm sure you really wanted nothing more than to get to your rooms.

Omg that was such a great concert. I love that amphtheatre. I was runnin late so i like ran thgough the whole chautauqa institute, but i still got to the third row. i lve all Arlo's stories.He is like ther nicest person, at 11 o clock most singers just wanna leave but he stayed for the fans. Thats something he didnt have to do after such a great concert. Some of new singers out there now should learn to show as much class and personality as Arlo. Thaks Arlo! Oh yeah that Mammals song bout Bush was really good.

THANKS to both of you for a wonderful report of the show! IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS ANOTHER GREAT ONE!!!! I haven't seen The Mammals yet, but I'm working on that! I agree ... a lot of the newer performers could learn a LOT from Arlo ... like his kindness to those that come to see him! Wish I was there!! Sounds like a great place to see a concert. I'm in the lower Catskills and it seemed a bit far ... oh, well ... I'll have to patient and wait for the next one that comes around closer to me!!! Did either of you keep a setlist??

CYNDY- we'll have to get you out to the Joyous Lake in Woodstock, NY on October 06th to see the Mammals on their home turf...

I may get a recording from this show as part of The Mammals archives and will post Arlo's set list if I receive it...

Happy Hookerbait: everyone says UPSTATE NY. I'll have to do some research, but many people think upstate NY is like in Syracuse or something...

I'm looking at the St Lawrence River, and beyond that is Canada. Maybe your right about upstate.??? Upstate NY ( North ny ) is like Ogdensburg, or maybe Potsdam NY......

Most folks don't know theres anything past Albany.... ( 350 miles from me. In upstate NY...

Glad the show was a blitz... / And you are right. ADG is among the most generous artist to his fans.... Time and time again, he's dropped what he's doing, and taken the time, for autographs and pics of my kids, ect... Very sweet man, and it's nice he's carrying on tradition, as mentioned in your post...

Well, time for ME to jump in here!! I live in Kerhonkson, NY ... everyone ALWAYS says, "Where's that? In the city??" My only response HAS to be -- "NO!! It's 110 miles NW from the CITY -- LOWER Catskills! Upstate NY"! Everyone always assumes that when you say you live in NY, it MUST be NYC!! SO -- many can't see outside of that damn box to realize that NY has LOTS to offer besides NYC. I guesss, we all end up saying "upstate NY" so as not to confuse anyone into thinking that we live in NYC! WHEW!! Did that make any sense??

Christian -- I'll take you up on that offer to see the Mammals at Joyous Lake in October. I live about 30 minutes from Woodstock. Does anyone know if the Mammals will be playing with Arlo/Pete in Beacon on Oct. 15th?? I'm planning to go ... anyone else?

I plan on attending as well..Can't wait...that date is not listed on the Mammals website, and no longer listed as appearing with Arlo on Arlo's Schedule...

The city sucks. I prefer upstate. AT LEAST 100 miles from the city.

I even hate living NEAR the city. Im 20 miles away and the property costs have skyrocketed. I cant afford a house unless I move into the slums.

Goober: I understand the high cost of realestate. But NYC is most likely the finest City in the US... If not the world.

Quite remarkable. Still living in the states, but looking out my back door is the mighty St. Lawrence River with Canada staring you right in the face.

Passtimes are watching Ocean liners on they're trek to Lake Ontario. On a quiet night you can hear the train, moseying from Prescott Ont. to Brockville. And when that doesn't cut it, I count the lights on the International bridge to Canada... ( better than counting sheep )


Stop in, have a cold beer, and trip out to the Big ships. It's kept me sane for the last 15 yrs......

Ryder still owes me a visit... But him being on the west coast, I understand the situation........... But the invite is still good Ryder, and please bring two guitars..... We could sit on my back deck, and sing folky songs...... To honor our Canadian friends across the pond....

To the likes of Neil, Gorden Lightfoot, Buffy St. Marie, Dan Arkroid ( who lives in Kingston, just a hr. away ) ntm: the famous Folk singers Burton Cummings, and Bauchman Turner..... Too many to mention....
