Hi, I would like to get some feedback to the question: Why Arlo should be inducted to the Hall of Fame? I know I am preaching to the Choir but I don't want to miss anything. I have the address to send the letter and I want to send it by 9/6/05. I tend to procrastinate. It may be because of the drugs. Opps! The second thing is how to get the message out to the world? The old critical mass thing. Let's have some fun. deantopa. Oh yea, here's the address, when we get the letter together, you can send it too! How's that for an idea. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, 1290 Avenue of the Americas, 10104

i think nominating arlo to the R&R Hall of Fame is a great idea deantopa.
I wasn't aware that nominations could come from 'civilians'... perhaps you have more information you can share with us (links to webpages are best) along with a copy of the letter you would be drafting - if such a letter would be legitimately acceptable.

now just start thinkin' about it... who would do the 'tribute' to arlo at the awards ceremony? dylan?? pete? ohh... Bruce!!!!

Arnie, All I did was go up to the Hall of Fame site and got the address. I think that geting into the Hall of Fame is kind of like the Mason's or Moose Club. Very secret. I don't think we will be able to crack the code. I just think that it is a good idea and good ideas should be put out there. Arlo is nothing more than us. We are all divine. We are here to inspire each other, Arlo can just inspire more at one time than we can. That's why I would like to see him the Hall of Fame. It is still one person at at time though. I go an Arlo concert or go up to the church to see my friends to get re-charged. Trying to live the good life isn't hard but at times can be difficult. Just too much nonsense. But then, sometimes I like to bitch. So, I am glad for even the ones who get in my way. As long as they don't squash me and even then, I somehow reincarnate to come back to be a pest to someone else. deantopa

I've always thought Arlo should be in the Hall of Fame. I figured since Woody's in there Arlo oughta be too. :) Sadly the Hall of fam doesn't seem to want to put in there the singers that folks are dying to have put in there. Forever folks have been wanting the Monkees & Tommy James & the Shondells (Been a fan of the Monkees & Tommy James for yrs) & the Hall Of Fame just won't induct or nominate them even tho folks have signed petitions online & stuff. I suspect it'll be hard to get him nominated but getting Arlo nominated in something I am in support of. If anyone has a petition I'll gladly sign it as he needs to be in the Hall Of Fame...

As a fundraiser and founding member of the Rock Hall of Fame, I can tell you that it's a bogus facility not worthy of Arlo. It's pretty plastic. I'd like a library/archive/museum for Arlo, preferrably housed in one of the old homes near the church.

Whoops, sorry to be so negative, and trashing the Rock Hall. I'm working on that! I have issues with the corporate takeover of Rock & Roll.
Arlo will probably achieve that honor in time. Personally, it would mean more to me to have the private archives near the Church. You could say it's one of my dreams, to buy that house nearby and make it happen. It Could Happen! I wonder what Arlo wants?

My guess is that Arlo doesn't care one way or the other. It isn't going to have any effect on his creativity or how he approaches his music and work. On the other hand, he is an entertainer and entertainers need publicity to sell their music so they can earn their livings and feed their families. He is no different than the rest of us and I think one of the great joys in life is to provide safety and security to the people we love. I mean some of us consider that a duty. If you know him at all, you know that he is a very cool husband, father and grandfather. He is a good friend to his friends. I assume that the HOF has a strong scent of pretensousness, after all it goes with the industry. I have a great respect for him because he has never bought into beng famous. He likes being an entertainer and when he is on the stage you can immediately see that because he is having so much fun up there. I would like to see him recognized because I think many of the people in the HOF are his peers and being recognized by your peers really is quite an honor, despite the wierdness of it all. I don't think that Arlo is interested in the "fame." I just think it would a fun night for him. He has made a fun night for so many people in the last 40 years. God say's, "you don't get away with nothin." Isn't that a more pleasant understanding of karma? deantopa.

I do believe Arlo will be inducted into the Rock Hall eventually, and that it's something he'll enjoy when it happens. I'm just saying if I were Queen I'd run the Rock Hall very differently.

I'm gonna be a bit negative here too.

Seems like this came a few years ago. We were gonna try & do something about it. Nuttin' happened.

As my son would say, "Damned hippies", bless his heart.

Oh no! What have I done? See what the negativity of one person can start?!!? (Oh, anywhere but at Arlo's place. ) I've learned my lesson. Back to my happy place... Hey, `They Built It, And He Will
Come.'

Hi Deantopa. I'm not at home this week; I'm on my daughter's PC. When I get home I'll look through my hard files. I'm not sure they have a mission statement. I don't remember seeing one. I'll let you know what I find. Is it on the website? I never go there. I'll also check into what we can do, if anything, to help get Our Boy nominated. Keep us posted on your progress! I'm going home Saturday (to Akron) and my PC is very ill, so I'll be incommunicado for a week or so after Saturday. It is a sweet and good idea Deantopa. I feel bad for raining on your Rock Hall idea so I'm going to try to make it up to you. Peace.
