For those who did not know Gay Lynch she was a dear, dear friend, a wonderful artist, a blunderite, and David's mom. She is loved by many here and will be part of us always. "First in line, First in our hearts."
Arlo announced a plaque in Gay's memory would be placed in the church.

Arlo did not do an encore this night.

We did an encore - we just didn't leave the stage or stop the show to do it. Oh, and we didn't make it look like an encore. So you wouldn't have known. "MY Peace" was the encore (for future reference)

I have to say, I LOVE the song "MY PEACE"... Thank you, Arlo, for pulling that out of your Dad's archives!

One (little) person CAN make a difference. A few years ago, Michael asked Arlo after a show at The Church why he left the stage "to fake people out," since everyone already knows he's gonna come back to do another song (or two).

Arlo told him "that's called an encore," and Michael rolled his eyes and said, "I know that, but why bother when everyone knows.... anyway?" And ever since then, at The Church, he hasn't been leaving the stage to do his encore.

Yeah adg, you skipped that huddle you've been doing with the band before the encore. Don't want you t think I was complaining. Just hate to see a great night come to an end. Thanks for being the catalyst for a great few days. Peace

I was at the Sunday night show and it may have been the best Arlo show I've ever been at ... yet!! Of course, I seem to always say that after one of his shows. Arlo was in top form but man, he looked tired! He's had a soul-wrenching week but he pulled off a WONDERFUL show!! I knew at the end, when he sang MY PEACE ,that it was the encore. Arlo- THANK YOU for that song!I guess I'm a sensitive lady ... that song makes me cry... both times that I've heard him sing it. He was so genuine when talking about Harold Leventhal - glad he was able to talk about it -- I wasn't sure if I could have made it through MY OLD FRIEND -- that made me cry, too!
The Church looks beautiful .. it gets better every time I go. I enjoyed looking at the "gallery" of Gay Lynch's paintings -- she was so talented. I didn't know that she had passed away. I knew she was ill, but didn't know what happened until I read John C's earlier post. When did she pass away?? I only had one opportunity to speak with her -- we were sitting outside the CHurch before the show a while back. She was a very wonderful lady and I was glad to read that there will be a plaque dedicated to her at the Church. THat's nice, Arlo!
Thanks for a wonderful evening and for singing My Peace! I'll be at the Beacon show to see you and Pete on Saturday -- it's only about an hour from my house -- that's the closest you've played to my house (that I remember). THANKS FOR BEING WHO YOU ARE! Thanks, also, for bringing out my sensitive side -- not many can do that! You've touched my soul and for that I can only say THANK YOU, ARLO!!

For those of you wondering about the instrumental "Red Haired Boy", or whatever it's been called, it's also known as "Little Beggar Man", and Arlo used to sing it, very fast, with Carol Ide, back when Shenandoah used to back him up. It's on the "One Night" album. I never would have believed that an instrumental version could be even more exciting than hearing those unbelievably fast words coming out of Arlo and Carol's mouths, but it was, and I felt like every cell in my body was doing a jig by the end of it. Totally awesome!!

Judy, thanks for letting us know. I first heard that song at the OC, NJ show in August. Loved it! Had no idea I already had the song on a CD.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I'm glad there will be a plaque for Gay. She was such a nice lady, and I loved her painting of The Church that was hanging there when I was there in July. I even took a picture of her painting...

Hey John - Thanks for the great setlists all the info links especially about the Red Haired boy (all the questions I had about that song answered there!!!) and about Mr. Leventhal. Interesting that he and Pete were born weeks from eachother! I will miss seeing him. He was so nice.

Thank you Arlo, Abe, Gordon and all...You make it look like it isnt work - and we enjoy it so much. I LOVE the new SONGS!! Both from Arlo and Sara and Johnny. Any chance we can get the words posted somewhere? Please keep writing...you guys just keep getting better and better.

I had a ball this whole weekend, but I have to say I think I laughed harder (and evidently louder) Monday night than in the last 12 months. You guys are the best.

Yeah, John couldn't be more right on. It's more than just a rush, to be together, with some old friends, and some new ones. All I can say, not to quote Wyldflower, but Friday nites show, was THE best show possibly ever.

Coinsodently Judy, that instrumental version of Little Beggar Man was one of my favorites. I kept waiting to hear some singing, (at 78 rpm's). Love that tune.

AND Alice's. I was pleasently surprized that after 40 yrs. it could still tingle my funny bone. At first I was just bopping to the tune, as the chorus has always been my favorite part of the song. But when Arlo got to the part with the guitar playing all gingled, and started squirming his legs, almost resemling a convulsion, I almost died laughing!!! Uncontrollable laughter. Great stuff!!!

Was so glad that Sue and I had the time, to meet up with Johnc and Reg, and Jay and Shelly, so we could say our good-byes. I guess all you folks, know your in our hearts, on a daily basis.

This I'd love to thank Arlo for. For having the patience to put up with this extended family, goes' beyond the realm...

The shows this weekend were really the best ever.....so far. So many of us were feeling the loss of Gay Lynch, and to walk into the Church Friday afternoon and see her wonderful paintings, well, it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was so good to have them there, and to know that she was really there, too. She and David had always sat at a little table for two up front, and although David came to the shows, he couldn't handle sitting there this weekend. The table was lovingly decorated with flowers, a nice tablecloth, and a mozaic "Love" sign, and those of us who knew Gay took turns sitting there over the course of the weekend. I sat there with Shirley for the second set of Friday night's show. I was doing fine, until partway through the set, when Arlo started talking about his Dad, and about how many of the songs Woody had written were never recorded so the melodies are unknown, and how people are setting them to music now, and there was one particular song that was possibly the last song that Woody ever wrote, while he was in the hospital, and I knew Arlo was gonna sing "My Peace". It was a real "Oh, God!" moment for me, 'cos that song makes me cry on a good day, when everything's wonderful, just because it's that kind of song, but to be sitting at Gay's table, so soon after her passing, and to hear Arlo sing that song, well, the tears started before he even played the first chord. But the joy of having known her filled my heart, too, and brought me a kind of peace. It was a wonderful moment, in spite of the tears. And then it happened all over again, when Arlo sang "My Old Friend"! That's how the whole weekend was. Lots of great music, funny, touching, emotional stories, special moments, hugs, and a real feeling of family. Thank you Arlo, and everyone at the Church, for making it all possible!

Judy such a sweet sentiment. Altho I didn't know Gay personally, I believe we crossed paths, at some pt. in time. I had a similar experience when Arlo started rappin about, the fact we've all lost someone or other as of late. I'd have to look at John's setlist, but the song he sang after talking about, people coming and going. ( adg getting serious ) Well I welled up with tears, as it reminded me of my Mom. This is the first gig I've gone to, without having the chance to visit her after, and give her all the details. AND answering all her ????? ( does he still wear his hair long? Did I ever tell you his father was a genious? And last but not least, did he sing 'Anytime'?

* I'm sorta glad he didn't pull that off the shelf, as it would of been too emotional...... I truly believe Ma was there. If not in body, then in spirit. She so loved Arlo, and when she'd feel blue, she'd ask me to play 'Hobo's Lulaby' the side with the song "Anytime'

Before you knew it, she'd be dancing around the kitchen, singing along to that song..... Now that she's gone, I realize what a great voice she actually had.... But hindsight is always 20/20.......

Judy and RB, maybe I'm sorta glad I wasn't there this weekend. With my father's recent death, and Verna's (posted on Moose Friends' Network).... then Gay's and Harold's... and now my sister's father-in-law any day now... it would have been way too much for me to deal with. But reading your posts brought smiling tears and a sense of well-being, if you can understand that. Now I feel like I was there. And what a beautiful way to remember Gay. Did you give David that hug for me?
