OK, I'm doing my bit and telling everyone I know about the show. Thought you'd like to know that it's been reported on the local news station. As a charity case myself, I can't come up with the price of admission -- as usual -- but my moral support is with y'all, and maybe I'll go meander around Beale Street that night. Just for the heck of it. Can't wait to see the turnout: certain bets have been placed with some nonbelievers about The Guthrie Effect.

Maybe this will get you guys thinking about coming down here for Memphis in May, and the folk festivals here. Hmmmn? You know you belong.

By the way, my niece just saw a Guthrie show for the first time. She liked Arlo OK, but was totally wowed by Sarah -- and deeply disappointed that she isn't available to marry into our family. Go figure.

I am so so excited about this show coming up on Tuesday night. Arlo
has not been to Memphis is a very very long time and what is even
better is that he will be back in February to perform at Germantown
Performing Arts Center. I have third row seats for the show in
February. It is going to be so great both shows, you can't go wrong
with Arlo. I have only seen him in concert once and that was the last
time he was in Memphis many years ago. So you can just imagine
how exciting this is for me. Arlo, we love you.
I so hope I can meet you at one of these shows. Of course even if
I do I know I will be speechlesss!!!!!!!!!!! A while back I sent a post to the board when I found he was coming in February and someone responded
that also lives in Memphis and is going. She said her sister is Judy
Beisler who has been Arlo's photographer and is a good friend. How cool is that.
Arlo, if you are reading this, I would love for you to play "You are the Song" when you come back in February. Also, would love to hear
"The Garden Song", cause I think it is cute. Would love to hear
"When they bring the Soldiers home song, in these days of war, war, war,
it would be a very appropriate one to sing I think.

Enjoy the show tonight folks. We saw them on Sunday up here in Effingham. It was an honor and a pleasure. You're going to love it!

OK. Someone. Anyone. Pray tell: How was the show? How was the turnout? What happened? Who played?

I always hate missing a chance to hear Arlo's music. Dang! Still looking forward to hearing Sarah for the first time (and the rest of RIG). Come to think of it, it's been way too long since hearing Abe play, too... Maybe by February I'll be able to come up with some buckage. There's no question that it's money well spent.

It feels like full circle, with the train thing. The first time I saw Arlo live was at a "Save the Trains" rally at Union Station in Washington D.C.. Arlo couldn't have been more than 27 - 28 at the time, and he sure did knock my socks off. He hasn't stopped knocking them off yet.

You go, Arlo!

Memphis show was awesome! Turnout was disappointing, I'm sure. We drove up from Tupelo, barely got there at 7:00, and still managed to get three front row seats. Got some great pictures, wish I could share them with Arlo, but I'm sure the other photographers got plenty. I haven't seen Arlo since Madison WI in 1975, but my wife and daughter saw him at the Further festival in St. Charles, Mo a few years back. I wish Arlo could have performed more, but it was so touching to see his family with him, and watching/listening to them perform, it made up for not hearing more from Arlo. Would love to head to New Orleans this weekend, but really can't take the time. Add Willie to that awesome mix of musicians, and wow.... Maybe I can see Arlo when he returns to Germantown in Feb. To Arlo and family....I've followed your career and bought your albums over the years. I was hooked when I got in (underage) at 15 to see Alices Restaurant when it first came out in the theaters. I'm so proud (as you should be) that you are taking on this cause. Our society seems to be festering with greed and violence these days, so it is refreshing (and encouraging) to see examples of people helping people, and making great music at the same time. Keep it up, you are all terrific.

TOTALLY AWESOME, I was so stoked. Whow, what a show!!!!!!!
We so enjoyed the show tonight in our hometown of Memphis.
We got there when the doors open and were on the front row also
rocking to the beat. I hoped for a bigger crowd, but par for the course for Memphis. Too bad the city known for music will not get out for shows like they should. We go to see a lot of music in our town and across the country and have seen too many low turnouts in Memphis. It really is embarassing for our city and even more especially so when you have legends such as Arlo and Ramblin Jack Elliot. I also hoped for a little bit more enthusiastic crowd, but then again Memphis.
We especially enjoyed meeting a couple of fellows on the front row where we were. They were following the tour. Really nice guys,
and I am so sorry that I did not get their names. But I am sure we will meet again, another show, another performer, another tour. That is the other pure joy of music, the wonderful people you meet along the way who love good music as we do. Got the goods at the merch stand and
got autographs on my poster which I will frame as soon as funds will allow. Thank you Arlo and family for a wonderful show and thank you for your wonderful generosity in helping the musicians of Katrina.
You know Daddy Woody is looking down with such pride in his eyes at the beautiful family of Guthrie and friends.

I was the long hair in the purple dress. You must have been
on my left. The girl taking photos that sat on the other end of the
front row was from Relix magazine we found out. She said they
will be in the January issue of Relix.

I absolutely loved the show, despite the probability of me being the only one there under twenty two and the likely--ness that I was the only one under the age of thirty.


I was just wondering if anyone knows the names of all of the artists that were performing last night, and if so where one could purchase any of their CDs?

More specifically the guy that put Bob Dillian to shame and the opening act that did a song I want to call "I am the snowman?"

Ah, and if I make it to the Germantown concert I will hold Arlo personally responsible for any future siezures I may go into after the show if I see him again and not even hear him play The Alice's Restaraunt Massacre.

Yes, we were on your left. I couldn't believe that we were able to find 3 front row seats arriving just before 7:00. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to bring my camera in (as I have before at the New Daisy), so I only brought my long zoom lens instead of the case with other lenses. As a result, I didn't get many wider angle pictures, but I got some really close zoom pictures. I should have gone to the balcony for some more general pictures. Thanks for the compliment. I took about 140 pictures, those were some of my favorites, tho.

I bet my daughter is in the running for the youngest, she just turned 18. She saw Arlo at a Further Festival a number of years back. She has a wide range in musical tastes, and she was SO excited to see him again.

This suspense has been killing me for so long now I recall someone on this forum a few months back stating that Arlo sang a Folgers coffee jingle in a commercial back in 1997, I don't remember seeing that on TV I was probably making my own special blend coffee that was hot, steamy and perky with my ex-fiancee in bed with the man with a half face and one eye as a night guest stalking till the gigantic egg sunny side up was invading my window I fell asleep during the day that why I missed it Was that a short sweet maple syrup jingle Arlo sang or was it part of a song of Arlo's music collection?
