Here's a link to my Yahoo photo album of Arlo and Friends pictures I took at Tipitina's on the first night. There's also an album of pictures taken in Waveland, MS in January where Katrina left a wide path of destruction. Also, check out the Mardi Gras album from this year to see Katrina related floats and costumes. The couple with the signs that read "Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?" had people sign the flip side. A guy got run over by a broken down float that was being pushed by a bunch of men but he wasn't too badly injured.

The evening at Tipitina's was VERY memorable! I even took pictures of the guy doing the webcast...lol I tried posting them on this site but couldn't do it and forgot about it for awhile. Glad everyone is enjoying them!

We don't get much Arlo in the deep South! We last saw Arlo in Mobile, Alabama about 4 years ago (front row!) and had been watching for him to come back near us ever since. We can't make concerts on weeknights that are 400-500 miles away or we would have gotten tickets for Atlanta, GA and Opelika, AL this year. (I think those were on weeknights...lol) I lived 50 miles west of Atlanta for about 15 years and I have been known to go there for concerts if they're on weekends (We drove to Atlanta for Simon and Garfunkel). I hated that it was because of Katrina that I got to see Arlo again when he wasn't scheduled to come down this way but I also was thrilled to see him and his wonderful family and very thrilled to be up front and center!

Awesome pictures! The 'local singer' is Jack Nielson. Did he do Hobo's Lullabye? He did that one in Chicago- damn near made me cry. Amazing cover of it. Looks like we had the same seats (front row center) for our respective shows. I guess the trade between Chicago and New Orleans was Cyril Neville for Ramblin' Jack- I just wish we coulda had Ol' Ramblin' Jack up here in Chicago!

Ya'll had seats? We were standing...lol There were a few very small tables with chairs upstairs but none downstairs. It was wonderful! The people next to us lost everything in the storm and were commuting between Baton Rouge and New Orleans daily. You can't go anywhere without seeing dozens of FEMA trailers being hauled somewhere. There's a guy living in one next to us and his wife is staying with friends near their destroyed home so she can work. She calls his FEMA camper his "bachelor pad".
Ramblin' Jack was great but he fussed at me for the little red light that came on whenever I started to take a picture. I had no idea the little light was there but I knew the flash wasn't coming on which is what he had fussed about to one of the professional photographers. I felt horrible not to mention embarrassed!
