The Boston Globe Jan. 31, 2008 had a story titled "Groundhog emerges from males shadows"
The article said that "Ms. G (that's short for Groundhog) a 4-year old woodchuck from the Massachusetts Audubon Society's Drumlin Farm has been nominated to be the state's first official groundhog."
If Ms. G is named such I think she should have her own official song. What could be better than Arlo and Shenandoah doing "Ground Hogs are a Friend of Mine"
I'm not so sure if the line about "here comes Terry with a snicker and a grin groundhog grease all over his chin will be a plus or not.

So I guess if they used that song they could change the tradition....

If the ground hog crosses the road safely here comes spring. If it goes SPLAT 6 more weeks of winter!

:)
