Just wondering if any of you heard, read or saw anything about this. Some things that went on here last Thursday, Friday. I wanted to observe in person to possibly make videos, which I wasn't able to do. But the more I read and try to learn what happened, the more disturbing it becomes. Chaos and melee. 190 arrests were made. 51 of those students. The charges of 4 students have been dropped and more are expected as evaluations of arrests are made. Free speech is not allowed without a permit but right wing wack jobs can carry loaded fire arms to town hall meetings and presidential appearances? Can you imagine what would have happened if the students had done that? Carnage, more than likely! WTF!!

Yeah, things were craaazy here during G20. There were snipers on top of
the Cathedral on campus! A lot of students are upset and saying that
police were being irrational--a lot of people on campus were tear gassed
who were just out walking around near their dorm rooms. One of my friend's
roommates got arrested for throwing her bike at a police officer, one of
my friend's had her foot broken when she was walking through a crowd of
protesters and at least two photographers for the school newspaper got
arrested. The windows of almost every store on my campus were smashed in,
including McDonald's, Fed Ex and Starbucks. There were sirens going off
all day and night. I just stayed in the house or at work because I heard
about how crazy it was and didn't really feel the need to be there...

As much as I sympathize, I don't think the means are very effective. This didn't work that well in the 60s and now a casual observer can barely distinguish a political protest from a post-football game rampage. IOW, it is too common and with the media aggregated to a form of tight control, the only way to get attention is to ratchet up the violence or create a spectacle so odd it gets noticed.

Precisely what did they mean to say and to whom? I'm not knocking them but what happened 40 years ago and what is happening today are different. There can be more effective means. This is class war. It isn't simply a matter of better enforcement of more regulations or even less.
