What's happening? I just spoke the someone at The Guthrie Center and was told that Arlo is not appearing there this year.
This is really bumming me out. This past weekend I almost made reservations at a nearby motel for memorial day and july 4 as we thought that we would be going to 2 shows each of the weekends, boy am I glad I decided to double check the dates. They have some good shows scheduled but THEY ARE NOT ARLO.

Larry and I can perform. I'll play guitar and harmonica and Larry will perform an interpretive dance with a hockey stick while dressed in a pink tutu. That's Larry in the tutu, not I!

You mean you two are going to do a skit from "Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke" singing Earache My Eye?

Hell, no! Larry's going to be on roller skates with a flaming tiara. The back half (Arnie) will follow!

Well I look at it this way. Though I was really hoping to find my way to the Guthrie Center to see Arlo and the Guthrie family perform this year I figure it is a business decision on Arlos' part. After all, to coin a phrase, "the price of fuel is rising out of site", and he like the rest of us has bills to pay. So I figure that most likely means that he has to be out on the road more. Which also equats to more increased chances to being able to see him and the family perform.
But the shows at the Guthrie Center are to keep the center going so I was thinking. Dangerous as that may be maybe at times, its time to show our support for what Arlo believes in and thats' the Guthrie Center. I for one really think that what he has going there is well worth it and great for the local community. So why not make a donation this year. There are, according to the stats, 2714 members on this website. If we all donated five dollars that would come to $13570. Now some of you are already members of the Guthrie Center so you have made your contribution for the year. Now, maybe instead of $5 we who are not members donated $25 and became members that would be a right nice show of support as well. Just a thought. Me. I decided that I would become a member as soon as I can spare the $25, I get paid once a month so I have to budget. But next month I should be able to make myself a member. I keep telling myself I am going to do it so now maybe it is time.

PS.
Captain Zap, Larry and Arnie.. This idea of yours sounds like a potential Youtube moment....

Couldn't agree more, Eric.

OTOH, perhaps the thought of seeing Larry on roller skates in a flaming tiara (heads on fire and butt ketchin'), will scare people. So here's the deal, if you join as members this year, Larry won't do this at the GC. However, if you don't join, he will come to your house and do it when your in-laws are visiting with the preacher/rabbi/guru/hair-consultant.

BTW: I think they have paypal buttons on the GC web site now. That makes it a whole lot easier to drop a few shekels in the plate for them. No messy forms. No trip to the mailbox through two miles of snow in bare feet.

I need to find the URL for those.
