My main hobby is recycling childrens old plastic rocking horses into works of art. This summer i've decided to create one with an "alices restaurant" theme. Step 1 is figuring out what icons to use representing the song and now i've hit a wall...anyone know exactly what breed of dog Fasha was...or color? HELP!!!!

A while back, there was a thread on here about the non-appearance of Fasha in the movie, "Alice's Restaurant." I don't think the breed or color of the dog was ever established, and I kind of think the dog was mostly an "invention" of Arlo's, but who knows?

Anyway, Fasha would have had to have been kind of an "everydog"; I would proceed with artistic license to portray him as such. Good luck.

Thank you mikey...& yes, i did see the old thread about Fasha. I probably should buy the dvd of the alice movie since i've never seen it (gasp!)...right now i am simply using the lyrics from the song. I want to give Fasha his credit by using him as one of the icons, so naturally i want it to be as close to the real Fasha as possible :). I guess Arlo himself will have to set us all straight!

It was nice meeting ya at the show. I have no idea what Fascha looked like. But the seeing eye dog was a German Shepherd, I think...

Hi Cheryl, it was lovely meeting you too. I'm looking forward to starting my "Arlo" horse in late June...lots of ideas. I made a James Taylor horse last summer. Worked on it everyday in July (many times up to 8 hours a day) & finished it the second week of August. JT was here in late March & i was able to meet him prior to his show. We had a wonderful chat & he signed my horse! There is a lot of prep work as i take plastic rocking horses & turn them into "carousel horses"...making each icon is the most challenging & the painting takes a good bit of time too...but the final product is always loved & displayed in my home. Still hoping someone will know what type & color dog Fasha was... :)

I am thrilled to report that i have been in contact with the one & only Alice Brock. Alice shared with me that Fasha was not his name...it was Fotcha! Fotcha was a beagle/foxhound mix and was white in color with black splotches/patches. I bet he was just beautiful! I can now begin creating the clay icons that will circle the neck of the "Arlo/Alices Restaurant" carousel horse i am making. 8)

HA! That is so funny because I was the one who started the thread mentioned earlier about the dog not being in the movie. A number of people chimed in if I remember correctly but when Arlo himself decided to weigh in, he mentioned nothing about the breed of dog but said that the dogs name was Faccia and asked where all the Italians were in the group. LOL

Oh MY! time certainly does fly by. I didn't realize how long it had been since i was last here. I'm happy to report that the Alices Restaurant horse was completed in august & it looks great. I think it's my best one yet! Friends & family, who have stopped by, just love it! I'll begin another one next June, still thinking of a theme, kicking around lots of ideas in my head. Looking forward to seeing Arlo in February.
