I went online just now and played 'Silent Night' as performed so beautifully by Stevie Nicks. I checked out her page, and started reading her words about the September 11th attacks. The combination of both is profound.
It's like how Simon and Garfunkel sang the same song, with the news broadcast intertwined. That's the song my mom focused my attention to. That's when my heart opened, and my eyes widened. That forever changed my perceptions, and September forever altered by perspective.

"Well, I think I have to sleep now. In an interview from the street, a man says in tears , “You do not want to see the things I’ve seen today…I am traumatized.” “I am traumatized for life…”
That is the truth…
We are all traumatized..."

"Silent night
Holy night
All is calm all is bright
'Round yon virgin Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace..."

I've posted the words to this song before, but always from memory. I happened into the 'real' lyrics, and wanted to post this song for a friend. I've always thought XAVIER would do an excellant cover of this Todd Rundgren Tune!!!!

*Light Of The World*

Name your price, and take me to paradise
I can't stay here anymore, and I've looked high and low
I've been from shore, to shore, to shore
If there's a shortcut I'd of found it
But there's no easy way around it.

CHORUS
Light of the world shine on me, love is the answer
Shine on us all, set us free, love is the answer

Who knows why, someday WE ALL MUST die?
We're all homeless boys and girls
And we are never heard
It's such a lonely, lonely, lonely world
People turn thier heads and walk on by
Tell me is it worth just another try?

CHORUS

Tell me are we alive, or just a dying planet?
What are the chances?
Ask the man in your heart for the answers!
And when you feel afraid, love one another
When you've lost your way, love one another
When your all alone, love one another
When your far from home, love one another
When your down and out, love one another
When your hopes run out, love one another
When you need a friend, love one another
When your near the end, love one another
You've got to love one another!!!!!

Chorus x 2..........

Man came to the door I said for who are lookin?
Says your wife, I says she's busy in the kitchen cookin
Po boy, where ya been? I allready told ya, won't tell you again.
I say how much you want for that, I'm goin to the store
Man says 3 dollars, I say allright will you take 4?
Poor boy, never stay dry. Things will be allright, bye and bye!

"If you had not have fallen,
Then I would not have found you...
Angel flying too close to the ground.
I patched up your broken wing
And hung around for a while
Trying to keep your spirits up
And your fever down.
So leave me if you need to, I will still remember...
Angel flying too close to the ground.
I knew someday that you would fly away,
For love is the greatest healer to be found.
So leave me if you need to, I will still remember...
Angel flying too close to the ground.
Fly on fly on past, the speed of sound
I'd rather see you up than see you down
So leave me if you need to, I will still remember...
Angel flying too close to the ground..."

Well, I didn't read through the previous 12 pages of this thread yet, so I'm sorry if this has been posted already. Anyways, I've loved this entire song since the first time I heard it, but this is my favorite bit...

"Come on everybody now what's it worth
Come on, children, come on
To make a heaven out of this earth
Come on, children, come on"

Workin like the mainline workin like the devil
The game is the same, it's just the board another level
Poor boy, dressed in black, Police at your back
Poor boy in a red-hot town, out beyond the twinkling stars
Ridin first class trains makin the rounds
Tryin to keep from fallin between the cars
Poor boy, layin em strait, picking up the cherrys fallin off the plate

Dylan (love and theft)

The Ballad of Easy Rider
~The Byrds (written by Roger McGuinn)

"The river flows, it flows to the sea
Wherever that river goes that´s where I want to be
Flow river flow, let your waters wash down
Take me from this road to some other town

All they wanted was to be free
and that´s the way it turned out to be
Flow river flow, let your waters wash down
Take me from this road to some other town

Flow river flow, pass the shady tree
Go river go, go to the sea
Flow to the sea..."

"Everything comes and goes
marked by lovers and styles of clothes
things that you held high
and told yourself were true

Lost or changing as the days come down to you
Down to you"

Joni's an all-time favorite, of mine...

"I was riding thru the burning desert
when I spotted six jet planes.
leaving six white vapor trails,
across the bleak terrain,
it was a hexagram of the heavens,
it was the strings of my guitar,
oh, Amelia, it was just a false alarm...."
Joni, Hijera

I bought Hejira last night! Along with Santana Live at the Fillmore 68.

A brief sample of both suggests they are both classics.

I surely agree, lcj, Hijera's one of my all-time favorites,, I have one song, from a video, I think, it's Neville Brothers, w/ Carlos Santana, "That's My Blood, Down There"
magical stuff, a Neville, on claronet, & Carlos, on guitar, wailing back & forth...

another song, for the ages;
"..,WEll, George Lewis told the Englishman, the Italian, and the Jew, 'You can't open up your mind, boys, to every conceivable point of view, they got Charles Darwin trapped out there on Highway 5'
Judge says to the High Sheriff, 'I want him dead or alive, either one, I don't care'
High water everywhere"

Love & Theft, B Dylan

"I, I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

I'm pickin' up good vibrations
She's giving me excitations
I'm pickin' up good vibrations
(Oom bop bop good vibrations)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(Oom bop bop)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(Oom bop bop)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop excitations)

Close my eyes
She's somehow closer now
Softly smile, I know she must be kind
When I look in her eyes
She goes with me to a blossom world

I'm pickin' up good vibrations
She's giving me excitations
I'm pickin' up good vibrations
(Oom bop bop good vibrations)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(Oom bop bop)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(Oom bop bop)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop excitations)

(Ahhhhhhh)
(Ah my my what elation)
I don't know where but she sends me there
(Ah my my what a sensation)
(Ah my my what elations)
(Ah my my what)

Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations
A happenin' with her
Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations
A happenin' with her
Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations
A happenin'

Ahhhhhhhh
Good good good good vibrations
(Oom bop bop)
(I'm pickin' up good vibrations)
She's giving me excitations
(Oom bop bop)
(Excitations)
Good good good good vibrations
(Oom bop bop)
She's na na . . .

Na na na na na
Na na na
Na na na na na
Na na na
Do do do do do
Do do do
Do do do do do
Do do do..."

*********DEAD FLOWERS*************

When your sittin there, in your silk apolsterd chair, talkin to some rich folk that you know.
Well I hope you don't see me and my ragged company, you know I could never be alone.

Take me down little suzy take me down
You know you think your the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning, send me dead flowers by the US mail.
Send me dead flowers at my wedding, and I won't forget to put roses on your grave

Jagger/Richards.....
