well, I'm happy to state that your hypothesis is incorrectr ceashel, since nassau county long island has effectively activated the "built-in" term limits clause as of yesterday... The Republican machine has been almost entirely voted out of office, after 80+ years of dominance... proving that things can change, just sometimes acting on celery time!
The victory is almost complete, with the exception of the Town of Hempstead retaining a Republican majority... at such a local level tho' their 'republicaness' is very much a boilerplate kinda thing...
The most interesting thing to me was that for the county legislators (19 of them) each win for a democrat was a large proportion win... while half of the republican wins (9 in all) were slim margins at best....

it's gonna be interesting to see the shake out in the county in the coming year...

Yes, big congratulations, Arnie! Out here we got rid of Catterson, which is nice. Not sure how great Spota is, but he's not Catterson, which is a big plus, we figure.

no pat...i'm not being cranky,,,just goofing on you..

and yes, pat,,,i am so tired of the wheels spinning..to me it's just a revolving door.

i anxiously await with hope in my heart for a free and open cuba!!

i've now lived long enough to realize that term limits are built in..castro has somehow kept the people of cuba hostage to his beliefs..but, i know that as sure as the sun rises in the east..fidel is coming to the end of his life...thus i view it as a term limit.

it's like the weather in wyoming...if you don't like it..wait a while. it will change.

the apathy is what scares me.

Arnie, I am sooooooo impressed and delighted for the folks in your area! I live in Image Dick Armey's district, so you can imagine how often we see anything good in the political arena. There won't ever be a term limit here, because vampires don't die.

The only benefit is that voting in primaries takes no time at all.

2 (and almost 3) of the 4 Green Party members running for Minneapolis city council WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Pat my dear, I was thinking of you as I voted). By next election, we could have a Green majority in this city.

Sometimes one does wish for the words "None of the above" to be printed on the ballot though.

You forgot to tell us how the WWF party candidates did. I don't think I'd wanna be at their headquarters when they lost. Image

Jesse is SUCH an idiot, he gives 3rd party candidates a bad name. The guy has weekly temper tantrums, he pouts like a goddamn 5 year old.

Just this weekk, a caller on his radio show started to criticise jesse about something, so Jesse interupts the guy. The guy asks to please not interupt, Jesse keeps interupting, and so finally the shows host says "c'mon Jesse, let the guy finish his thought". So jesse, with his toddler-esqe whine says "Fine Ray, I'll just take my headphones off then". He's may as well just have put his fingers in his ears and went "nahnahnahnahhhhhhhh" really loud.

This is not an isolated incident. Jesse V is a self promoting egomaniacal and shallow dope. God I hope he does follow through on his threat to run for Prez, the entertainment value will be priceless.

Unless he won..think about that one. Of course, it would have its upside. We always used to say that wars should be settled by having the leaders fight it out instead of sending thousands of soldiers to fight. If Jesse was president..I think he could take bin Laden in a cage match, even if he is getting older. Also he would probably be the first president we've ever had that has worn a feather boa in public.

That's true Pat. I suppose the closest we ever came to that would be J.Edgar Hoover wearing his in the closet. ? Image

Well guys, thanks for the insight! I now know I DON'T believe in term limits. BUT what the fuck do I know?

Wyldflower, I think those stats could be wrong on my town. As far as I know, they took down the old population sign they used to have, back in the late 70's. There is a website of the city Ogdensburg. I'm thinking that's where other sites get info.

*I don't endorse the site, as it was brought to attention, who-ever maintained the website hadn't up-dated it since 1994? It was quite an embarrassment, to say the least.

**People who moved away yrs. ago are prolby glad, if they rely on that site... 8 years and NO change...Then again, maybe certain people look for that type environment???

Change is good!/Yoko Ono
