This is definitely going to be a strange day. I started today in church, just 'cause it felt like a good place to be. As for the rest of the day:
Our paper printed the following suggestions for how to remember this day.

Hug your children
Tell someone you love them
Unplug your TV

It has been a very long year, Let us hope that the night has passed and a new dawn in coming, let us honor this day with expressions of Love, hope and charity.

If only we could honor those who died by doing one kind act for each life that was loss, what a much better world this would be.

I am thankful for having you folks to share with, and I thank you for being there.

To Pat Rainey. Thank you for your post!!! I think un-plugging the T.V. is the #1. greatest idea of the day. I was fortunate enough to sleep in till 9:30, but my wife has this bad habit of leaving the TV on when she leaves for work. (Usually the first thing I do upon my rising is shut off the damn TV)!!!...<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>...>>>>

ANYHOW, I don't know how much more of Dan Rather's monotone voice, narrating the damn thing I can take. I would have rather heard Jimi's version of the star spangled banner, but it was okay...((I've always had mixed emotions about that song))

SAD, Sad. Sad. It's just a sad day for me. I've never in my lifetime, been so proud to an American.

I saw where the independant Baptist church that's on our road is having a 911 service tonite. Even tho we're not Baptist & definately not independant Baptist (I don't believe in legalism) we thought we'd go & check it out & pay remembrance that way. Looks like we made it through today.

It's day-by-day.

I forgot some folks might not know what legalism is. It's when these strict conservative type denominations like the independant Baptists have all those do's & don'ts like they don't dig folks having long hair or wearing jeans or listening to rock & roll or going to movies etc & think all that is evil etc. We go to the Presbyterian church & they don't believe in legalism. (They do believe in evangelism tho.) They believe you do what you feel God wants you to do not what some list of do's & don'ts tell ya to do.

We had a nice time at the service tonite & we saw a few folks we knew. Several people in the service said this that God is in control no matter what.... <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/peace.gif" width=16 height=16>

Sure glad Cheryl defined legalism for us. I was worried that it was some new religion based on the divinity of lawyers. Geez, imagine praying to Johnny Cochrane or Judge Judy!

FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigation.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records requests.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information about them related to a terror investigation.

RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.

FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.

RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.

RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.
