What are your thoughts and feelings on the recent terrorising sniper shootings happening in and around the D.C. area?

Yeah Levi: Can't wait till they catch this guy! This is in Dave's neighborhood. My sister in Columbia MD went to Vancouver on a business trip. She never goes on business trips.....

There is of course no making light of this situation, but having Chief Moose and Arlo involved does get one to head scratchin' just a bit!

Yeah, I wonderd if that Moose guy could be a potential blunderite with a name like Moose. Hope all the blunderites in the area are safe. Fortunately I am a coupla hours or so south of Fredericksburg, so we fell safe to go out & hope he doesn't come that far south. I sure hope they get him. Good thing Arlo wasn't doing any gigs this far up in Norhtern Va or DC...

I saw a news report yesterday, and when people have to go shopping, they literally run from their cars to the store--how awful!! I sure hope this guy makes his fatal mistake soon before he hurts anyone else.

Here's an interesting note (if in fact true) found in the Washington Post. bin Laden was reported saying "It's the eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth teaching that may explain why [a sniper] shoots a 13 year old walking into school." Supposedly, this was quoted by him on Oct. 7, 2001. The 13 year old who was shot last week by the sniper as he was walking into school occurred on Oct. 7th, 2002.

No telling how much money they spent to learn that! I wonder if they'll also figure out that it's true of perception as well as memory.

It's scary. The sniper has made it to almost my local area. He shot someone at the PONDERORSA restuarant in Ashland, VA. That is a little more than an hr north of us if ya go by interstate. & Scary thing is we have eaten in that restuarant a number of times. All the PONDEROSA restuarants in our area have closed up & this was the only one left around here. We go to Ashland sometimes cuz sometimes we'll go to the VA CENTER COMMONS Mall (Usually a couple or 3 times a yr or so) which is a little ways from Ashland & I like to eat at the restuarants near the mall & in Ashland that they don't have around here. I totally missed the news on it until we got back home cuz Mike & I had gone shopping with a friend. From what I heard on our local news, the sniper is hitting areas that are easily accessible off of I-95. So as long as we stay away from I-95 we should be okay. Guess it's a good thing Arlo wasn't doing any shows in Northern VA or the Keswick this fall. I was dissapointed about that but at least we got Hampton, VA. I'd rather have no gigs in Northern VA than to have an Arlo gig I'm needing to go to & then can't cuz of some sniper. The news coverage here was on till after 1 Am. The guy that was shot was a traveler from another state & age 37 with a wife. They got him thru surgery okay I think. Hope he's okay. This is hitting real close to home...

Keswick (Glenside, PA) isn't "near" I-95. As long as didn't have to stop for gas or food along 95, you'd be ok.

Thanks for the info! When we go to the Keswick we always go with another blunderite who lives in Northern VA near DC. We stop off of route 95 on the way to her house & also on the way back hom the next day to get something to eat usually at the COUNTRY COOKING restuarant in Fredricksburg, VA or up around Potomac Mills outlet mall in Woodbridge, VA as they have some neat places to eat at that they don't have around here. Good thing I don't have to go that way this yr. It would be scary with the sniper going around...

Being afraid of the sniper reminds me of a story which I will update and transfer to the USA.

Once there was a truck driver waiting for a load in Tennessee, while waiting in a truck stop dinner, who should walk in but death. The truck driver looked up and saw death standing there and looking at him so he became very scared. The driver then called his dispatcher and told him that death was there with him in Tennessee and he wanted away from there now.
Well the dispatcher didn't like losing that load but he sent the driver up to Virgina to await another dispatch, but the dispatcher being somewhat upset about the turn of events, called death and asked him why he was down there in Tennessee scaring his driver.
Death replied, " I did not mean to scare him, I was only surprised to see him sitting there in Tennessee when I had an appointment to meet him in Virgina later that afternoon".

Fear not death for it will find you when the time is right, you can not avoid it, it will come as natural as your birth.

My husband, Bob was in DC/Maryland last week on business. He said everyone in the area is more than a little jumpy. Even though I agree with Nathen, that you can't keep looking over your shoulder, I sure was glad when Bob got home safely. I hope they catch up with this guy soon! Everyone who lives down that way--stay safe.
