The first US Serviceman to die in combat, wanted more then anything to be an American.

Now for the payment of eighty dollars and proof of death, he can get his citizenship.

What kind of sick justice is this?

Jose has a sister and she is left with nothing, nothing except poverty and dispair, I feel that we owe it to Jose to make him a citizen and to also offer citizenship to his sister.

I for one will be e-mailing my congressman my views.

I agree, his sister should be made a citizen and brought to this country. It's the LEAST we could do for her. America is still the kind of place many people long to be part of. Let's not forget that.

I thought all servicemen were citizens before enlisting... or at least before serving.

There was piece on local news a few days ago about a young woman (from Colombia, I think) who works in a recruiting office here. She became a U.S. citizen after joining our military, and apparently is an extremely effective recruiter, being both proud of and grateful for her citizenship.

one of the four service men killed when the car bomb taxi ecploded was also a non-american trying to get citizenship papers.

during Viet-Nam, many from Canada came and fought for the US, some to be citizens and some because they wanted to, some returned to Canada and some to the US but some never made it back.

The young lady who was a POW was in the service to pay for an education, she wants to become a teacher, the State of West Virginia just gave her a full scholarship, which I am glad to hear.
