I just saw him on the Bill Maher show. Clark, that is. Looking very presidential. In fact he looks like someone who could play a president on TV. He's not even a candidate yet, and maybe he won't be. At this point, though, I think he's going to declare. September 15th or thereabouts is the date that all the present candidates have to declare how much money they've raised. Of course, Clark hasn't raised any, even if he has it lined up, so declaring with zero in the campaign chest doesn't look so good. If he does it, it'll be after that. I'd love to see him run. I think he'd be at least as good on the issues as any of the top tier candidates, and I think he'd have the best shot at whooping Bush's ass. Most of all, I'd give a lot to see him debate Bush. That would be soooo sweet. Plus the moderator would have to address him as "General" the whole time.

Of course, no matter who the candidate is, expect a lot of really vicious smearing once the primaries are over. The Bushies aren't going to brook a challenge willingly, or even fairly.

I saw in the NYTimes today that Hillary was again saying that she would not run for president in 2004... not surprised at that... but the article said that she was being "playful" and sort of saying "maybe"

Maybe she is considering the VP role this time around and president next time???

We will need a strong ticket, and I don't think that any of the announced presidential candidates would want to play second fiddle, so to speak. Clinton for VP would make a lot of sense - especially if Clark is the candidate.

I'm reading up on Clark, and I like what I see. His record for taking care of military family problems is exemplary... I haven't read much yet about his thoughts on foreign policy, but I think he has the right background to have a well thought out policy (unlike the shrub).

Maybe... just maybe... Bush will be beatable???

Looks like a Dean/Clark ticket might be the strongest one right now, and would give a good balance for the doves and the hawks to some extent. I think it would be stronger than a Kerry/Clark ticket and have better balance, since Kerry and Clark both have substantial military backgrounds.
I think Clark is positioning himself for the number 2 job at this point, and could fall in with whomever gets the nod.

I wish Hillary would run now. Something Anything, as Todd Rungren would say. Anyone know the population stats on what the woman vote would be????? NTM: Gays and people that would vote for anyone other than George.

* I think it's obvious we need a business person in office, to make things click the way we like them. Clinton's survived Whitewater, ect, ect. And come up smelling like a rose. That's gotta be worth something.

And seeing Martha Stewart is out of the running, Hillary's our only chance. The senator visits my area all the time, with the ra ra speeches rallying folks. I commend her for her efforts. I live way in the sticks so she comes up here, to remind us, she hasn't forgot that Northern NY isn't something just north of Rochester or Syracuse. I'm guessing she doens't think she can win, IF she doesn't run.

Have to see what happens when/if Clark says he's running, but an anyone/Clark ticket would seem sort of weird to me, gravitas-wise from what I've seen of Clark so far. Another few days and we'll know.

Cheryl, with all due respect, if we could do worse than Dubya, it's more than my imagination is willing to conjure up. This country is in the worst condition that it's been in in my life and is in a more precarious position regarding foreign policy than any time I can recall since the Cuban missile crisis.

We may hafta wait and see Pat. I depends on how early he gets in and how well he does, but I think if he does not get the number one spot, he's going to be the strongest and most popular number 2 man.

While he's careful to say it's not an endorsement, which I think is only reasonable, really, Michael Moore is asking Clark to run. It seems that MM is actually interested in beating Bush this time. I may have to get over it with him, and I have to admit, Bowling For Columbine was brilliant and thought provoking and not what I would have expected at all. But I digress...if Clark can attract MM to the left, he's golden, because you know he's going to go over well with swing voters. My sister went to Clark meet-up last week, just to investigate. Said it was mostly men, many vets. This is a good thing, too.

I just realized that when I said "He's got my vote tho... " I forgot to mention I was referring to good old Dub. I guess the Wizard will be voting for him too so Dub will have 2 votes already LOL. But don't worry theres enough of you folks out there supporting the Dems to keep them fighting the good fight LOL! I'm not too familiar with the other canadates out there. I do think Dub handled himself pretty well considering what he had to face. Just hope there aren't any hanging chads this time LOL!

Cheryl, not only are we spending a fortune to fight a preemptive war in a country that had nothing to do with the attacks on us, 3 million jobs have been lost in this country. Those are jobs that aren't returning without a lot of work from any administration and this one hasn't got any plans to do that work, or at least none that they've even hinted at. Homelessness is going up, more children are in poverty, access to medical care is still not there for millions in our country. I've never seen this nation in worse condition and 9/11 just doesn't account for all of the damage by a long shot. There were a lot of us who predicted that this would be a bad administration, but they've exceeded even our wildest nightmares and continue to do so. This administration really is the dark side for anyone except a few wealthy people that have sold their souls for tax cuts. Dubya is not a good old boy. He's a wealthy, prep school aristocrat and dilletante who is using his inability to speak correctly to sound like a populist. But hey, other than that, he's cool.
