Excellent riddle. My first repsonse is that black and white captures dramatic moments best. Mikey's answer is better, of course. Can we make it a perfect storm and throw in Katherine Harris (or Satan's Princess as Bob affectionately calls her)?

On a totally other note, I'm rereading lcj's initial post here from December of 2002. A lot's happened since then but the post that started this thread turned out to be very perceptive. Dean crashed and burned, but he made the most news while he was in it, and now Kerry is the most likely contender. Tuesday the nomination will probably be all but decided. I'm voting for Kerry, but I'm wondering what lcj thinks about Edwards. Any guesses about VP if Kerry does win? Are you out there lcj?

I'd first throw him an anvil, and then snap it in black and white, because that's how HE sees everything anyway.

Hi Pat. I like John Kerry, but I wonder if he can beat Bush. Will people go for a Prez who used to be Lurch on the Addams family? And more than that, they have 200 mill to spend convincing Americans that he's the dreaded "northeastern Liberal."

I actually think Edwards would do better against Bush. He's younger, more energetic, more likable. And perceived as more centrist.

I think Kerry would do well to pick Edwards, who can take away some of the Lurch factor, and already has the name recognition. And he might bring a southern state or two.

Whatever the ticket, I'm on board. I am so fucking sick of Republicans that I can't even put it into words.

I hope to hell he can beat Bush. He does look a bit like Lurch, but he's looking better these days..not asking why. I don't care why.I've also been favorably impressed more than otherwise with his approach to Bush lately. He, or whoever makes those decisions, seems to have a good feel for when to respond strongly and when be more laid back.

Edwards would probably make a very good VP candidate with one caveat. I don't see him doing as well in a debate with Cheney as some others, but he's a great campaigner. We'll see. The VP choice is probably going to be based on the theory that whoever is picked can deliver a given area. I've heard the name Bill Richardson floated a lot. Also, but less so, Ed Rendell and of course, Dick Gephardt (I really hope not!) and Graham as well as Edwards and Clark who is now campaigning for Kerry in Georgia and other places too, I think.

I don't think I'm going to live to see who wins. I don't think my heart can take election night. I'm sick of Bush, but much more of that, I fear...really fear...what that cabal that we call an administration will do if he's actually elected.

Just thinking about 4 more years makes me want to sign over my next paycheck! Of course I can't do that, but I'd like to.

Yeh, we're going to start giving a little here and there, when we can. The Bush economy hasn't been kind to us...and to be fair there've been other factors, too. But if everyone who would like to uproot the shrub just gives a few dollars now and then, that would be a hell of a lot of money.

I've gotten e-mails asking for donations for Kerry from Kerry and from the Dem Party, but I sent a donation through MoveOn. MoveOn gets none of the money--it's a way to get the message to Kerry's campaign about where his support comes from. I hope they see "MoveOn" as I do--another name for Pat's "Social Realists."

Ceas... thank you for that suggestion! I was in a quandary as to which organization I should donate to, and this makes much more sense than sending directly to Kerry's or the DNC's coffers.

I have never made a contribution to any office seeker. That may change this year.
