I'm feelin' a bit bummed today cos Little Johnnie has been returned as P.M. of this country!!
I won't go into it too much but they used stuff like, "if the opposition wins they'll put interest rates up", and since the mortgage and plastic debt is so high in this country,
cos people want everything TODAY and think money and things buy happiness, they were too scared to take the chance.
Also Labour deciding to take preferences from the Greens would have put people who are scared of those "radical, commie Greens" off.
Anyhow on the World Stage Johnnie is small potatoes. It's the election in Nov. that really counts!

Louise, I read about your election in this morning's paper. All of Aussies interviewed more or less said, sure, the war in Iraq is a mess & a lot of things are screwed up, but the economy is good & that's really the most important thing. Sad. However, I'm not disparaging the people in Australia; Americans used essentially the same rationale for reelecting Reagan.

It was interesting to read that voting is mandatory in Australia. If anybody tried to pass that same law here, how much do you wanna bet that the Republicans would do all that they could to defeat it?

Yeah, on the "Thinking Peoples" radio station here people have been talking about how so many people could leave the War part out of their vote consideration. The result was about 52% to 48% or so and thats about how it balanced about whether to go to war or not.
Also they've been talking about self absorbtion and how people are doin' a suburban "Grizzley Adams Thing" (my words)
and escaping into reality(fantasy) T.V.
and don't want to know whats happening OUT THERE!!!
I know thats true by they way some people get their backs up (which I interperate as fear in disguise) when I start talkin' about the War and W. and stuff. They just don,t wanna talk about it!!
It's so great to hear you guys talk about this stuff so I can get to know how people are feelin'over there. At least the War is still in the limelight there. I just listened to your Mon. night Lehrer about the Debate.
So what do you all think??? Was that a wire up his back!!!! I can hardly bear to hear his voice but feel it's my patriotic duty to be as informed as possible at this very serious time. Still haven't recieved my Absentee Ballot!!!
Anyway as you know I could rave on for ever but it's 6 P.M. on Tues night here and I'm hungry, tired from work and my Butt's goin' to sleep so I'll say bye for now.~~~~~

Boy, I'm proud of my fellow Oregonians.

I loved P.S's idea for a T.V. ad. WE need hard hitting stuff in the next two weeks.
This morning I woke up at4 A.M.with a feeling of dread."What if he wins, how will I bear it" Then I felt depressed. Then I decided if we all start worrying, those bad vibes might do some damage, so am determined to be only positive for the next two weeks. Boy I was whistling all the way to work!! Then I got to work and found out I got a promotion AND a pay rise!!! So lets get at it troops! Lets send all the Blundervibes we can muster to to gain a good result!!!!
(now I might get some good sleep--------- at least for the next two weeks til it's all over and I start work formulating at four A.M. on the next installment of Fahrenheit 32cents. (I know Joe will be in on it with me. Boy have I got plans for him in the next installment!!)

We are receiving on average 2 calls a day from Bush's camp and NOT ONE from Kerry. It's scary! I hope that these calls aren't actually swaying any fence-sitters.

Mom asked what I wanted for my birthday this year (November 2!!) ... I said, "Bush out of a job."
