As usual the American Public is slow (and probably too late) to catch on !!
For sure it is too late now for thousands and thousands.

Bush Public Support at Lowest Level Yet

WASHINGTON - President Bush's public support has eroded to its lowest level yet,

with the Iraq war dragging on, a top White House aide facing felony charges and the

White House rushing to replace a failed Supreme Court nominee.

A new AP-Ipsos poll found the president's approval rating was at 37 percent,
compared with 39 percent a month ago. About 59 percent of those surveyed
said they disapproved

just when i was starting to think he is the best president ever!!!

And what are we gonna do about it? Be the Democrats usual apologetic selves? If handed power, is it just back to Clintonian business as usual? More free trade, more drug war, more biz tax breaks, more Hillary hawkishness?

Or will we walk into the room like we fucking own the place, like Delay does? And say, "Hey, this is how it's gonna be-deal with it. First, we're gonna roll back all the nonsense and damage the Repubs have done. Then, we're gonna take bold action to protect workers, the environment, raise taxes on the top 10%, etc etc."

Do we even have leaders in this party capable of not being so god damned wishy washy? Can we come up with a Liberal version of Bush, with the swagger, but with the balls and intelligence to go with it?

My fear is that if the Dems get power back, we won't see that much change. Better than Bush for sure, but not enough to inspire the masses to envision a "great society."

Our most subversive journo, Phillip Adams, did a great "Told you so!!" and "Nyah nyah ne nyah nayh!!!!" column in our major national newspaper yesterday. He's been trying to tell everyone,for years,what was really going on and, as is familiar to many of us, was condemmed as a bleeding heart liberal traitor etc. etc.

He's a great read Google him sometime.

He interviewed Arlo, when he was here last year, on his late night spot on our thinking persons radio station.

Mine, too.

They have completely pissed me off for 5 years now. They're so damn scared of being criticized by conservative talk-show hosts. They didn't fight hard enough when Bush stole the 2000 election, then rolled over & played dead & let Bush do whatever he wanted, as tho' the stolen election gave him a mandate.

I was determined to vote for a third party in 2004, but soon came to feel that it was important to vote for somebody with a real chance at unseating Bush. But even tho' I voted for Kerry (& for the 1st time in my life, gave cash to a presidential candidate), I soon became disappointed at what a lousy candidate he was & became convinced that he woulda been a lousy president (altho' not as bad as this one).

It's the Green Party for me in 2008!

I completely agree with Joe and Icj, THat is why I began posting here in the first place. I am not at all certain we can stop the rain or if there are any more answers out there in the wind! but I am willing to try!

Republicans + Democrats = Republic-rats

I dunno. I've always been like my grandfather. He called himself a yellow dog democrat...meaning that if they put a yellow dog on the ticket, he would vote for it. So far I haven't swayed from that theory. Last election I didn't really like Kerry, but voted for him because I thought he was the only person that had a prayer of defeating Bush. Where did that get me. I dunno.

Crap, here we go again. Vote your conscience or vote pragmaticaly ... I can argue each side just about equally, at this point. WHY can't the Dems wake up? Are they constitutionally (sorry) incapable? Maybe so.

Well, don't take my rant to mean I'm pushing the Green Party again. Their platform is closest to my heart, but I will be voting Dem wherever there is a chance at beating the Repub. These people are destroying our country and must be voted out and we must take back the congress and or white house. Pat was right. The consequences of losing have been so tragic. Conservatives are just weakening this country in so many ways, just ripping it down. They should be so ashamed at what they've done, at what they continue to push.

(Where the hell is Pat anyway? I miss her!)

Let's stick together and elect Dems and try to change them to represent us. That's what my rant was about. Trying to shift the Dems to what we really want instead of mini-Repubs.

That pretty much sums up what I'm thinking too... We absolutely have to do everything we can to ensure the congress is NOT republican, come 2006 election!

Oh, I know. We've been getting more active in groups to push the Dems--Democracy for America; MoveOn, etc. It's the way to do it, but it's just so frustrating to know that they know we'll stick around, so they don't have to change so much.

Those dems need a hard kick in the pants! Is there ever a good or bad election year to do it? there still remains the fact that it is one party united by a diffuse and confusing agenda. so do we get another diffuse and confusing candidate? One thing about those republicans you know where they stand, in the crapper and they want to crap on all the rest of us! Just turn the radio or tv on and they will tell ya!
