Unfortunately, I bought from Amazon quite often too. I'll be switching to Barnes and Noble (do have a nice bricks and mortar store near here too).

lcj: Thanks! I'd read a bit about WalMart, but never all pulled together like that. And don't forget, that includes Sam's Clubs, too. My New Year's resolution: switch from Amazon to B&N, Sam's to CostCo, etc., etc. Thanks to the BlunderCommunity, I can get closer to living as I believe, and feeling good about my decisions.

Thanks lcj ... another interesting read, although I had already stopped shopping Wal-Mart (mostly) because of other reasons--in part because of the "death of downtown" it causes in many small communities.

Wal-Mart have brought Asda, a supermarket chain over here. We didn't shop there to start off with, it may be the Cheapest supermarket in the UK but the quality of it products is so poor. It was one of the worst for stocking organic, and vegetarian and Eco friendly products. and all of it's own brand ready meals are so full of salt, sugar, colourents, artifisial flavour and flavour enhancers, that the allready poor quality forced grown 'slave labour picked' veg and antibiotic fed meat, meals look horrendus.

Saying that All the main supermarkets are more or less as bad as one another. We eat very few ready meals, and they tend to be freshly made pizzas, as we like to cook all out meals from sratch. We try to buy all our fruit and veg from local shops and farm shops. but when we do have to do a big shop we tend to go to Sainsburys, they're not great, but the do have a very good range of Fair Trade, Vegi foods, and Eco Friendly cleaning products. And they sell Eco friendly disposable nappies, baby wet wipes and nappy bags; All made from natural corn starch and wood pulps made with no bleach and all biodegradable <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> Eco Baby.

It does feel good to help local people, local world economy and the enviroment, even with little things like how we choose to shop.
