damn!!! now I have this recurring music running thru my head... The Beverly Hillbillies theme song in Reggae!!!!

Arnie ya gotta remember we didn't get cable in those days. BUT, those were my favorite episodes of the B.H.'s. When 'Lester Flatt' and 'Earl Scrugs'? would make a guest appearance and play (banjo + mandolin?) and just plain out sing songs...KEWL...

**Sorta like my favorite Mayberry R.F.D. shows. When Andy sat on his back porch, doin a little pickin. Or when those hillbilly's were guest on the show.....(HINT HINT 35cents)...I like that style of blue-grass.

The one Beverly Hillbillies episode titled "Flatt, Clampett, and Scruggs" which aired March 31, 1965 is a classic, if you're a Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs fan.

well Levi....May 24th will be 10 years since my oldest son was killed in an auto accident. He would be 25 now and by those who knew him...he is sorely missed. It would be impossible to describe the difference it made that he lived 14 years and even harder to explain the depth of the impact of his death for so many....no matter what triumphs I may claim....it could always be sweeter if michael was there by my side....it's a heavy load for my surviving son to bear..me counting on his existance as much as I do....bless him and all our children.

So sorry to hear about your son, Georgia. I know it wouldn't do it justice to even try imagining the pain and grief I'd experience of losing one of my own kids.
Only those, like yourself, who have had a child taken way too early can truly relate to what you have gone through. I admire the strength and courage you possess to talk about it though. Sharing your feelings is sometimes the best way to help cope with it all. Hang in there girl.

John Hartford..63, cancer,,today!!

he was pretty regular and loved at the philly folk fest. always different!

Yeah, I saw that on the folk newsgroup. Sorry to hear that. "& For hours you're just Gentle On My Mind"...

I was also sorry to read of John Hartford's passing today.

The first 3 albums I ever owned in my life were Beatle albums, the 4th was Glen Campbell's "Gentle On My Mind," & the 5th was an early album on RCA, "John Hartford." The latter 2 albums really sound dated today, so gooked up with orchestration.

When I saw Glen Campbell's 12-string guitar on the album cover, my goal in life was to someday play a 12-string myself. I took lessons for about 4 years, wasn't very good at it, & haven't played in 25 years or so. My poor playing was due to several factors: lack of talent, aptitude, ambition, drive, determination, seriousness, etc.-- just the usual things.

But guitar lessons really got me into music, so I guess that John Hartford got me started in listening to different types of music & collecting albums.

This probably isn't very interesting to any of you, but it's what I felt like saying when I read the news.

This morning's paper had the news that Willie Foster, who was Muddy Waters' harmonica player, passed away last May 20. I wonder how many rock-n-roll fans realize how much of a debt they owe to the old bluesmen. Each time one of them dies, another piece of history goes with them.
