It was a moment of giddy exuberance, when I learned that Arlo was coming to my area to do a show, later this summer.

..... I have a rather small, (but growing), collection of autographed guitars,..... well,..... I have this ONE guitar, an antique Sears-Roebuck... inked by Don McLean. (American Pie was the first accoustic song I ever learned to play,.... on that very guitar). Since then, I've accumulated another six string and a twelve string, as well as a brand new Fender banjo.

So,..... I have this 12-string over in a corner of my living room that doesn't have any ink on it. It's just TOO PLAIN !!!

Arlo,..... do you often sign autographs after your shows? It would be a huge thrill to have your name, rank, and "Group W" serial number across the front of my guitar!!! (Perhaps a pic)?

If not, it's just cool enough that you'll be performing in Northern Michigan, within traveling distance for me.

I'll be bringing my guitar with me to Interlochen,..... along with an endorsement contract with a full "Anti-eBay" clause, to ensure that it is my full intention to keep this instrument forever.

(Or maybe I should bring the one that's already been signed)?

I've got one real piece of crap guitar (the pick guard is painted on!) from the '50's that is in excellent condition...with Elvis Presley's autograph on it.
Without that autograph, that guitar would have been firewood a long time ago!!
It would make a better fireplace poker than a musical instrument...

That is so cool that you have a guitar autographed by Elvis. Mike is a HUGE Elvis fan & would get a big kick outta that. Too bad the guitars not in better shape...

The Guitar I have that was signed by Don McLean was a "Garage Sale" piece.

I got it for $3.00.

The neck was once warped, and someone "fixed it" by sawing halfway through the neck where it attaches to the body, and putting a screw in it to draw it together. (But it worked)!!!

It plays real nice, even though the "action" sits a little high. It stays in tune real well, and it has a real nice dark color. I've used a "Dremel Tool" to enscribe the titles of all the songs I know how to play all around the body. It looks very well loved.

And it is.

I bought my twelve-string from a friend/co-worker of mine who moved to the other side of the country. I had just won $500.00 at a Halloween costume contest, so I used $100.00 of my winnings to buy her old "Aspen" guitar. I'd always wanted a 12-string.

I also inherited a Samick 6-string from a late family member. A gorgeous piece, with gold colored tuners. I've never been too crazy about "New" stuff, but it certainly is the nicest guitar I have. (Gordon Lightfoot is coming to Interlochen also, this Summer,..... I'll be bringing the Samick to HIS show).

"The Folkslinger" and twelve-string guitars just seem to go perfectly together. I can think of NO better signature to have than Arlo Guthrie... on my piece.

I also have a cheap electric that my youngest son likes to play. Does anyone know where I can find Lemmy Kilmeister, this week?

Oh, that old guitar is in excellent shape...much better shape than it deserves, because of that autograph! It's just not a good one for playing...!! It's about as musical as wet cardboard boxes in the basement.
