Hey Arlo, have you ever considered writing an autobiography? I think that your unique writing style would create an account that would be both hilarious and insightful.

I hope Arlo gives serious consideration to the suggestion that he write his autobiography.
I just finished reading "The Mayor of MacDougal Street" a memoir by Dave Van Ronk with Elijah Wald. A great book.
Can only imagine how wonderful a similar book by ADG would be.

i think arlo did write an aughta-biography once, i'll have to search my hat box...

Sorry, I wasn't thinking the other night. I meant to elaborate alittle on my comment. What better history of a country, a people, a movement...whatever....can we have than the stories about the people that helped make the land we live in, and the ideals we have formed...what it is and what they are?

There is no doublt, Arlo is an American icon, there will be some reference to him in many social histories of this country written after the 60's and 70's (and definitely in those written about the 60's/70's). He is a fascinating person in his own right, with his contributions to folk music, pop music, children's music and stories, symphonies, ethnic music and his contributions to the social and spiritual conscience of our country. Finally, between his parents..himself..and his kids..it is truly a unique American Family.

A biography on the life and times of Arlo Guthrie would be a great addition to the American library....an autobiography even better. I imagine that over the last 40+ years there have been hundreds of thousands of people that have heard, heard of, seen, listened to, and 'touched' Arlo....definately not a bad sales base either. And a book signing tour in conjunction with his concert tour....can you imagine????

I for one, hope he considers a book.....or at least someone in the forum with any literary talent, might get the idea.

** there is a lot to do for a Folksinger these days - more than ever - more than ever this land needs strong proven voices - Arlo has long been one of those - I don't think the story is half over & the best is yet to come - Folksingin' is a long term job - God Willing - some of them Folksingers can make ya feel bright on a cloudy day - they can show you how dark it can be on a sunny day - some can just ramble on for ever 'bout seemin' lee nothing too much at all.......... ..

I would rather have Arlo writin' and talkin' in the present for the next 40 or so years - I probably won't make it that long but my grandchildren should - and they are going to need someone out there - and there seems so few at times - then he could take a break and tell what he remembers about the last 80 years - if he can remember at that age - he could make a deal with Starbucks and make a million dollars too (-:

I wouldn't say that writing an "Arlobiography", or an "Arlography", means that his story is over at all. I think that looking at our past helps us determine what we want for ourselves in the future. Arlo's influence up to this point is more than enough to fill a full-length book. Maybe in 40 years, he can write the Arlography, part 2.
