We're a group of six Aussies who loved Arlo's concerts in Brisbane and the Gold Coast last year. We are in the USA for most of September and our itinerary seemed to be missing Arlo's shows by a few days. But it now looks like we can make the show in Roanoake ..... wooohooooo :D

Arlo - look for six ageing teenagers in the silver seats - that'll be us !!

Looking forward to meeting up with the local fans,

Davex7

Cool! We'd love to meet you guys. Have a good trip! :) Btw one place you'll want to visit up there & get pics of is the Roanoke Star. I'd been there with my folks yrs ago. But a few yrs ago Mike & I went with some friends & it was neat to see it lit up at nite...

And you really need to have a bite to eat at the Texas Tavern. A really small burger joint that's been around forever. A unique Roanoke experience.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to try that place sometime. I found their website online:http://www.texastavern-inc.com/

Since some folks from oz are coming to the show, Arlo oughta do a version of "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport"... <g> :)

Hi Cheryl,

Thats a great idea !! One of the brother in laws see himself as a virtuoso playing the spoons, and would love to get on stage during our trip. Do you think he could accompny Arlo on Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport ??

We've just arrived in these United States, settling in at the Holiday Inn in Hollywood. We left Brisbane at 11am yesterday and arrived at 7am this morning, but its Sunday again, so we're enjoying two fathers days this year.

Thanks for the info on Roanoake.

Best wishes,

Davex7

another little update - we went for a walk before dinner this evening, and didnt realise until we got there that we were only 2 blocks from the Hollywood Bowl, and Brian Wilson was playing! So we switched to a hot dog for dinner and seats for the concert. It was a great show, and something a little special hearing all those legendary songs in their home setting with California girls singin along. We also have seats at the Grand Ole Opry on 17 September, to see another legend Loretta Lynn.

Have a good trip! Maybe Arlo will see this thread & think about doing the song. What reminded me of it was I was listening to WKBW 1520 am out of Buffalo & they played Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport on there. Hadn't heard it on the radio in along time...

Hey adg, when Tie Me Kangaroo came out my Mom's folks (in OZ) sent us(in Oregon) the record and an official WabbleBoard to play while we sang along with Rolf Harris. I'm sure they still have it somewhere if you want to borrow it !!!!

Hi Cheryl,

I guess you're right. And there's probly no room on the loan teleprompter from Mr Springsteen to fit any words to new songs.
