I thought this was really interesting. And bizarre. I'm not quite sure why he was subpeoned, but all he testified about was "Alice's Restaurant."

I know this site has been mentioned before, but it you do a search under "Arlo Guthrie" you will see sketches from the trial. They don't really look much like him! LOL There are also wonderful pics as well , including beautiful wedding shots !

I think the reason he was at the trial was Abbie Hoffman wanted him to sing at some event that was related to the Chicago 7 thingy. I don't think Arlo sang at it because he was afraid of too much trouble from the fuzz. I believe there was some movie about this yrs ago but I've never seen it & have forgotten the name of it...

Yes, this is correct........it was Abbie that wanted Arlo there.....it was mainly for theatrical purposes. Abbie was all about staging events and wanted the lawyers to lead in somehow to get Arlo to go into his Alice's Restaurant monologue
