I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I would like to encourage everybody who surfs this forum to help adg in his efforts to get New Orleans back on his musical feet an therefore helping the city on its way to become selfsufficient again. Reading that NO had to let 3000 city employees go because there is no more money to pay them  and also reading that the government (or whoever) hires an out of state company to do the cleaning up (I guess they get paid from whoever) makes it so much more important to support Arlo and his "Train to New Orleans".
So, please help if you can and thanks Arlo for helping me to keep my balance. (Sorry, the way of expressing myself in english is not as smooth as I would like it to be)

Hi Brigitte,

Its a great idea of Arlo's to help New Orleans with music gear. There is a snail mail address for donations on adg's announcement but I think that would need an international mail order which is difficult from here (Aus). Maybe someone can post a fax number on the forum for credit card donations, or somewhere the distant blunderites can send a western union transfer. Or can we send donations via Rising Son?

Hi davex7,
I went to my bank and they ordered a check through an american bank which I think will be send then to the florida adress. But this costs about 10 Dollars and is money that could be used for the donation instead. Another possibiliy I haven't really checked on is buying traveller checks directly through American Express, writing them out to the adress adg gave and sending them countersigned by mail. I let you know if I have more information. But it would be much easier for us overseas if one could donate money by credit card just like buying records from rising son.
Maybe adg's team will come up with a good idea.

Hi Brigitte,

Yep, its a bit the same here - to get a cheque or money order that will cash in the USA you need to get to a bank or post office in work hours - and they start the charge-o-meter tickin before you walk in the door. Travellers cheques may be a good idea. But being countersigned already, if they got lost in the mail then they would be lost in the mail. Over to the adg team.

Hello Davex, you are right with the travellers checks. Also getting them and sending them by mail is not much cheaper than the check through the bank who should then be much saver. But my order for a check is 3 weeks old and still the bank hasn't charged me. I went to ask what the problem is, so far no answer. :x
For this cause it may be to late for the people in charge to do something about it, but for future causes it really would be better if there was a way to get the money there by credit card.

Hi Brigette and everyone,
I am working in the outback this week (Charleville, about 800k west of Brisbane and seems a very long way from Roanoke!). I will try a money order or international cheque from home base next week, unless there is some news here on a credit card option for donations.
Bye for now :)

Hey Davex, be careful with the international check. My bank finally charged me for it and it costs 40$ working fee   , can you believe that, 10$ for the german bank (which I knew) and 30$ got charged from the american bank, which of course the bank clerk didn't tell me that they would cost extra. Therefore I put in a protest.
But for you, you should ask very specific about the total fee.
Take care and good luck in the outback.

Brigitte
