Hey it can get worse, over here we pay between 4,20-4,80 $ per gallon, but there is hope. In Berlin there is a taxi driver who had his engine converted so it can run on french fries oil. so to get gas he drives by all the places who sell fries, fills up with there old stinking oil and drives merrily, i mean merrily for him, into the sunset. :wink:

This reminds me of that scene in Alices where Arlo brings in that burro donkey as a present for Alices. This girl says to this dude, maybe you can ride him to Canada. & The dude goes I've been wondering how to get my a$$ across the border. LOL!

I couldn't believe it was in Big W either - they didn't have a lot of copies but they were in a big section of $7.95 DVDs - I noticed they they sold really quickly and was glad to know that there were other Arlo fans still out there! Sally

Hi All! Couldn't wait until tonight to watch Alices Restaraunt, watched it when I got home from work last night (10pm) Loved it of course! Does anyone know how old Arlo and Pete Seeger would have been when it was made? Hey Sallyd, did your kids watch it yet? My son (now 32) used to sing the Motorcycle Song when he was a little guy. Grew up to ride motorbikes, but doesn't sing the song anymore! Another good 60's nostalgia movie is "Flashback" with Keifer Sutherland and Dennis Hopper. There's a great scene on an old hippy commune. I got it on DVD from Blockbuster Video. If anyone's after a copy of Alices Restaraunt DVD, the EzyDVD store where I got my copy had about 5 in stock, so if you rang one of their stores I'm sure you could get it. Only $9.95!

The movie was made in '69, Arlo was born 10 July '47 so he would have been 22 if the whole thing was shot in fall.
Pete's 86 now so he would have been 50 I guess.

Yikes!!!! That's younger than us 1954's are now!
I'm 17 th July '54, Portland Oregon (Mom was a War Bride from Brisbane) that's why I live in OZ now.

Yeah Louise, we 54 models have to stick together! You must have been 13-17yrs when all the good 60's stuff was happnin,( and the bad-Vietnam etc.) Most of my friends were 5-6yrs older and mainly musos, artists and writers of different stripes. I even got put in a detention centre when I was 15 cos of sex, drugs, rock n roll (with a good smattering of folk and protest music of course). Now kids get payed by the government to do all that stuff! Musta been ahead of my time! I'm Scorpio 4-11-54.
So you're a 54 model too Sallyd. We'll definately have to start a movement- the Alices Restaraunt 54 model movement and we'll just sing it again the next time it comes around on the guitar- with feelin'. Sorry, got carried away!

Well, count me in .. I'm a member of the 54 Club, too!! -- in March, which makes me a Pisces 54! We have to all stick together -- the 54 Club! :lol:

I'm not too sure I like this age, tho! Parts of the body seem to take on their own meaning withtheir own agenda, too. Some days it just plain sucks!!Oh well ... could be worse, I guess!! :lol:

Yeah BobbieB all that stuff we did! I went out with a guy who was 4 years older and worked at the Uni of Queensland so I was only 16 but got to hang out at the Uni of QLD and go to union meetings and stuff with all the radicals! One of the best days was when Ralf Nader spoke on campus. And I went in the anti Vietnam War marches and that was alot scarier then than now 'cos Joh BP was Premier then and I'm sure you remember what THAT was like. But no, unlike someone we all admire..........I never got arrested!

Welcome all to the '54 club! But if we keep this up we will probably be asked to move to The Bench! eh Sparks!

Geeze Louise! We've started a movement! 1954 seems to have been a bumper year for birthing blunderites! Fanbloodytastic!!! The more , the merrier as they say, as it were. Hope you all celebrated your 50th last year in a suitable fashion. As part of my celebration I was going to get a tattoo. Havn't got to it yet- maybe for my 51st in a couple of weeks, Just got to rake up some sheckles.
