UC Santa Barbara
Campbell Hall
11-1-05

Mammals opened
Hot set – don’t have the set list but the openening number was pure knee
slappin’ bluegrass. A blistering number from Buena Vista Social Club
and a new song “Ball and Chain” sticks in my memory.

Arlo’s set:

Desert Sun (?)
Mr. Tambourine Man
House of the Rising Sun
Darkest Hour
Haliewa Blues
Commin’ into Los Angleese
Last Train
Alice’s Restaurant
Instrumental (?)
This Land
Encore
City of New Orleans
My Peace

Great show, Arlo was witty as usual although I was hoping for a little more comical commentary on the ridiculous political situation we’re in.
After all, it’s not like he doesn’t have enough fodder to work with.

hanks for posting a setlist!

Chan Chan is a heck of a number, isn't it?

Have a look over in Lyrics for Ridin' Down the Canyon and see if anything looks familiar.

It's tough to use words to try to identify instrumentals. :) Was it something along these lines? http://resources.bravenet.com/audio_cli ... oy/listen/

Yes! "Chan Chan is a heck of a number". And they smoked it! There were
so many times during their set that made me want to get up and boogie
but unfortunately everyone was glued to their seat.

Yup, Arlo opened with Ridin’ Down the Canyon. “Just to watch the desert sun go down”.

Red Haired Boy could have been Mammals' opener. Can't really remember since it was a loooong time ago
Arlo's instrumental after Alice was much slower.

Thanks for the corrections.

So much for memory. Yeah, Red Haired Boy was after Alice (the set list has been fairly regular becuase it's so much fun), AND it was smokin'. The slow one was Haleiwa Blues, earlier in the set.

Thanks for the "jog".
You're right - it was one of those times I was struggling not to stand up
and and make enemies of all the people behind me.

My heinie got sore from doin’ the two-step- butt-bop!
