I'm becoming a huge Neil fan. I saw him at Farm Aid a couple of months ago (the last time he played Southern Man, possibly), and was hooked. I bought his album the next week when it came out, and have been listening to it ever since. Has anyone else gotten hooked on this album? I find the folky feeling of it very befitting of Neil's current self and mentality, and the lyrics are extraordinary. Check it out if you can.

I'm enjoying the new Neil Young album too. Kinda reminds me of Neil's country-rock album Old Ways (Geffen GHS 24068) from 1985. If you have a library near you check out the March 10, 1988 issue of Rolling Stone. There's a great photograph by Geoffrey Croft of Neil Young and Arlo Guthrie standing together (and dressed to the nines) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame awards dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC.

Yeah, Prairie Wind is most likey Neil's best work in over a decade. & you can listen for free. Not that I won't buy this CD. Unlike crap shoots of past, this one's a keeper.

Yep! I'm loving the new album too. It's amazing that he laid down most of these tracks in the few days between his diagnosis and his surgery for aneurism. Truly music of the soul!

Interesting Wyldflower. Indeed. Yes, it seems like we have Neil back. I love the harmony's with Emmy Lou Harris, ntm: it's such an emotional album. It can make you dance, it can make one weep.

I've been a NY fan since Harvest. I've only seen him live once in Portland Ore. in '73. What a night! I just sat back, listened and breathed deeply! (it was kinda smoky that night!) He came down here to OZ year before last, but I couldn't afford to go , but I'm definately going next time!!

Hi Folks ... Im a huge Neil's fan too , but I got to say that I dont like very much when he plays with electric guitar .. I enjojed very much his acoustics Folks with harmonic .. I like many many songs .. but I always remember his " Helpless " with " The Band " in " The last waltz " movie , with Joni's voice in off ..amazin' ..Are you talkin' about his new stuff ?? I would like to know the name of his last work ...

I was flabberghasted in shopping for Neils new album. From what I've listened to it's ausome.... Kinda like a cross between 'After the Goldrush' and 'Harvest'...

I've listened to it allot on his website, and think it to be a single CD. Not a double....

The price.... $27.89

I purchased the new digitally remasted "On The Beach" last yr. It was $15.00 tax included... Other titles were around 13 bucks....

Maybe Prarie Wind is a double CD... But from the perponderance of the evidance I don't believe it is...

I call that Price Gouging.... To say the least. I'll never pay 30 bucks for a single CD..... Not when I can borrow it from a friend, download it, and burn it for 5$... Sorry Neil... I did ask the record store (Best Buy) if that was the correct price, and they said yeah....

Maybe theres a 10 or 12$ free gas coupon enclosed, that I don't know about...

Or his new contract with Reprise, is responcible for the crazy price.

I just checked Barnes & Noble for Prairie Wind... there are two versions... they have the CD version for $13.28 ($11.28 for members)... and a CD/DVD Version (2 disks) for $19.98 ($17.98 for members). I'd be willing to bet that the one you were looking at was the CD/DVD. (though $27 is still too much money!)

Prices would seem to be reflecting the same old story: the rich keep getting richer, while the poor are getting ever poorer. If you earn 300K a year -- or 30 million -- then 30 bucks for a CD is about right. Cheap, even. For those of us with incomes of less than 6K a year, well ...

Gotta' keep those executive golden parachutes gilded, y'know.
