....well i remember some stuff, though it's hazy... got a lot of Rbr's in a dusty old file cabinet, but....

..i remember alot the same as you do, Agnes....Leslie, often confused, not knowing who or where she was....being whisked away by forces beyond her....took alot of showers and got naked often... always alert for phone calls for some travelling guy who meant alot to her.... but then i remember her as sad....well, maybe that's my projection.....she was always going to be 26 and never, ever would get any older....that i remember clearly.....whoa what a fate....

...then she got involved, much to her own surprise with underwater critters and all kinds of adventures most of which left her baffled, but she always went along with it....these details are very hazy.....kinda lost track at that point...seaweed comes to mind.....lol... kinda like you said, agnes....

...well, no doubt i got some of this stuff and if anybody is desperate to know more details, send me a pm and i'll do my best....i'm just kinda hopin Lesley's fate improves....

Wow! That's a lot more than I got out of the song. As for RBR's, it took me over a year to get my first one after I joined, and so far it's the only one I've gotten. In the song she begs for his mercy? brings him wine and water, more than she ought to.

Since I can't edit, have to say adg did give us one RBR in PDF due to the people not getting them...

Yeah, what KJ and Agnes said. I seem to remember something about an underwater cave, and maybe a High Priestess......I can't help thinking the story reminded me of all those old movies that used to end up on TV on Saturday afternoons, with innocent, captive women being thrown into volcanoes, and Jungle Queens, and things like that, only with more nude scenes......I may just have to dig out all those old RBR's!

And speaking of RBR's, Arlo, can we expect a new one any time soon? Like, this year? I mean, back in Leslie Anne's hay day (hey day?), you used to send them out more often.....No wonder none of us oldtimers can quite remember the story.

Well, I met Echo at Carnegie. She'd be a pretty good model herself. I could buy her as Leslie Ann.

While I semi-regularly look at the forums. I've never posted before. This time however, the topic is near and dear to my heart as I am the mom of the first Leslie Ann van der Klam contest winner! When we entered the "contest" we had no idea what the prize was - imagine our delight when the phone rang and we not only discovered that we'd "won" but that our prize was a weekend trip to Florida to attend the Indian River Music Festival. Since winter is a rather long affair here in northern Minnesota, it was a perfect break in early February (and at the time, with two young kids, we certainly didn't have the financial resources to take a trip on our own - still don't, actually!).

Anyway, the young girl who "won" the original contest is now a lovely almost-21-year-old college student. While she shares somes of the attributes of Leslie-Ann, she misses the height requirement by an inch or two. My memories of the stories from the RBR is that LAVDK was frequently waking up on beaches with little or no clothing on (where Reuben was during these times has always been a bit of a mystery). While my daughter would look great without clothes on, living on the shores of Lake Superior, 30 miles from the Canadian border, make cavorting on the beach somewhat risky (beach gravel notwithstanding).

To those of you considering entering, I say "go for it". Who knows what your "prize" might be! While our trip was one of those once-in-a-lifetime sorts of experiences the real prize for us is in the memories we still have and the smiles it brings to our faces.

Thanks Arlo - you remain a beacon of light to those who (because of geography) live in the dark much of the year.

Hi Mary welcome Thank you so much for sharing that awesome story about you and your daughter going to Florida on account of the Leslie look alike contest. I personally do not fit the descriptions for the second contest, by nature I am shy in some instances. I do not know much about Reuben Clamzo's story since I am still considered an Arlo virgin to this forum just became on Arlo fan since September 2005 and I learn something new every day and I am still learning and working on my education get a degree in Arlology he he he. Sounds like you and your daughter had a groovilicious time. We hope to hear your imputs on any subject in this forum in the future so far I am having fun Ever since I bought the Alice's Restaurant DVD I got hooked to Arlo and his music and instantly became a fan I met him once in Amherst, MA after his concert back in November and was my first time see him perform I had a blast, one of the bestest concerts I have ever attended and makes me want to go to another performace he is an addiction Hope to hear from you soon!

LAVDK's mom, i would also like to say hi. (maybe you noticed from an earlier post, my reference to the first winner from the title of the article, "igoe's south"). for some reason i remembered it. (it may have helped that it was opposite page or there abouts to the recipe for alice's veggie lasagna which i would dig out and make from time to time)
very nice picture. and due to recent events, i also wondered out loud to myself (in other words, i doubt that anyone who happened to be nearby was actually paying any attention) about whether or not the original leslie-ann look-a-like winner would now be old enough to enter and possibly win again! :) i neglected to actually post these thoughts but in the back of my mind wondered.
anyway, nice to hear from you!

I'd still like to review Arlos pictures anyway. I remember the Reuben Clamzo storey but can't remember all the details to write it all here. I think she washed up on shore somewhere if I remember right & lived with some folks in an ashram or something. I bet Arlo remembers all the details. Nice to see ya on here Ar hon!

LAVDK's mom's post contained a word (one of my favorites) that sums up the essence of LAVDK for those who can't remember. She did, in fact, "CAVORT" a lot, both with and without clothes. I really think she was a precursor of a whole new generation of "cavorting" women.
