Yeah, these Aussies down here love Bob. Man, I bet he could even play his harmonica thru his butt. (unlike Capt. Zap who can only play his harmonica thru his nose).

I've been listening to " Modern Times" / I found it odd it shot up to #1. or rather it's the first #1 album Bobby's had since 1970 ( according to Don Imus)

I think " Time Outta Mind " is better

And Modern Times, seems to be just more of " Love & Theft "

In fact, when Imus was playing Dylan, before introducing it, I thought the song playing, was off from " Love & Theft".....

Harmonica thru his nose??? dunno... but Dylan can surely sing thru his nose....

* I guess I miss that 'Nashville Skyline voice' from after his cylcle accident, and that crash was supposed to have changed it... When in reality he had quit chain smoking for one month......

music ( artist ) can be influential.... I have allot of sentimental value to 'Time outta Mind' ....

Remember when Bob played at the music awards ( Grammies ) and the wierd pschotic guy, shirtless, with Soybean Bomb, snuck onstage and was dancing with the band..... Dylan, just sorta let it roll off his back....

Memory's like that hold a certain amt. of Nostalgia..... no/yes

For visual nostalgia I watch The Last Waltz.

Now that I think about it, I think my cousin went to Oz with Dylan once. I bet that was fun! He talked like Dyaln didn't say too much toi him on the trip tho lol.

I have never needed anyone to agree with me - have my own beliefs or feelin's - I have and have not read and listen to what I want and take and excluded what I want to - hopefully what I needed and need -
so as far as Modern Times as an Album goes I need no one to tell me if I should like it - that would be like needed someone tellin' me if the high school english teacher was a good piece of -- well I did not care then or now she was just what was happenin' at the time-

Highway 61 Revisited was different then and still is today for me - don't need anyone else to agree - I don't mind being alone - with my records -as long as I got a turn table to spin them

Modern Times - to me is just more - well it is just more of what it was in the beginin' - I started on the road long ago - you can laugh - you can do anything (earphones) anything at all

Modern Times for me works quite well followed by 20 Songs to Grow Big On - Amigo to Freewheelin' whatever - it is just me and some unknown going down a really dirty road with a real - I mean a real - I mean - TO tell You - a real a-hole in that American White House -

I've been hearing quite a bit of Mr. Dylan's New Release on Sirius Radio. Jack Clement was a Recording Engineer at Sun Records from 1955 on, and has a weekly show on "Outlaw Country". He plays many of Woody's and Arlo's songs that I haven't heard in years. He also previewed Bob Dylan's "Modern Times". "Thunder on the Mountain" is a Great Tune. From the K. Richards style intro, to the Chuck Berry beat and double bends in the solo on what sounds like a Big Gibson, it has to be my favorite song lately. By the way, Chuck Berry will be 80 on October 18, and is still doing shows around the Country. He has mellowed like a Fine Wine, but can still Kick it Live. Later...

Kurt-J Chuck Berry is the King of Rock & Roll. How that title ever got handed to Elvis Presely is beyond the scope.... Keith will be the first to tell in interveiws. Chuck Berry is Dope....

I have fond memorys of Chuck Berry playing a live tribute with John & Yoko Ono... ( have to dust that one off somday ) my memorys is bad... & I have to search, thru a pile of rubble ( shoe boxes ducted taped together with miles of memorabilia, from everything from VHS Concert ft age, to autographs, to letters to the editor ( Irving )

But the "Elephants Memory Band"..... something like that.. too lazy to ask, jeeves, and it'd be a cardio vascular work out, finding that one...

* linear note, My favorite memory of Chuck Berry.... ( not to thrive on anyones losses.... that aint me) but was when he has a house fire, and lost his vintage Pornography Collection worth , 10's and 10's of 1000's... Me and my buddies at the Mill, heard it live on the Radio..... A mans looses everyting in a house fire, and his main complaint, was, " Man my porn is gone".... Gotta love that is a guy!!!!! ( internet porn sucks))

I agree, Chuck Berry is a real class Act. I caught his show in N.J. last Sunday(9-24-2006). He is a Kind and Gracious Man, as well as an amazing performer. His "back" catalog alone contains some of the Best Songs written by an American, (aside from Woody and Pete of Couse). He is a Man who Truely Loves America, eventhough, the Goverment has not always been so kind to him. Sound Familiar ? Mr. Berry will be in New Haven on 10-5-2006 at the Shubert. His Son and Daughter Perform with him in St Louis Monthly, CB II may be with his Dad in New Haven, If anyone can make it to the show, there are still seats available. "Catch him if You Can ".

I regret to say that Chuck Berry has cancelled his appearence in New Haven, tonight(10-5-2006), due to unforseen circumstances. Let us hope that He celebrates his 80th Birthday (10-18-2006) in Good Health.

Little Richard has been brought in as a replacement act. He did a nice job on the "Tribute to Woody"/"This Land" from an earlier posting.

Just a note to say hi from 'Down Under" I saw Dylan in the '90's when he was here. His acoustic set was pretty mindblowing. I'm also a big Arlo fan and I understand he toured here in 2005 I think, apparently there's a CD out that he did in Sydney which is supposed to be very good. I was sitting up in the early hours of this morning and caught an old rerun of Alice's Restaurant which took me back to my Uni days when I used to slavishly try and play the riff from the movie. That bought back lots of memories.
