My sweet wife bought me a didjeridoo a few years back and the Australian business, The Didj Shop ( http://www.didjshop.com/ ), that she got it from emails regular newsletters to anyone who signs up for 'em. It's a pretty cool newsletter (and website) as they not only sell didjes but promote political, social and environmental issues. Every solstice and equinox they promote a healing didj meditation around the world at sunset, not just for didj players, but everyone who wants to participate. Forty-five minutes of didjing, drumming, meditating, etc. followed by 15 minutes of silence. Hey, it can't hurt to send a wave of healing intent around the planet, especially with the way things are lately.

This year, they're doing the same sort of didj meditation deal for "Peace One Day" (September 21). What's "Peace One Day" all about? This is from their website:

"In September 2001, POD achieved its primary objective. A United Nations General Assembly resolution (A/Res/55/282), put forward by the UK and Costa Rican governments, was unanimously adopted by all UN member states, formally establishing an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace, fixed in the global calendar on 21 September - Peace Day. All sectors of society are being asked to honour and celebrate the Day on 21 September. The vision of the Day extends far beyond the cessation of violent conflict and represents an opportunity for individuals to join in a moment of global unity."

Sounds pretty cool to me.

i don't have a didji (yet!!!), but i do have a little brown jug...and i will do my best to contribute!

Maybe we could start a blunderite band. Sue on guitar, iddle or autoharp etc, you on your jug, Don on guitar, me on autoharp or dulcimer, & whoever is there that can play something. And if ADG wants to join in he is welcome...

Thant sounds realy cool, itis just a shsame it's not 365 days of the year. But I've book marked the site. I had a look on their shop page and saw they had blank cards, I allways buy charity cards and presants at christmas and nearer the time I'll buy some of their cards. So if I send you a card at christmas don't go peeking as it may be one of those you get!

there's a study out that suggests that playing a didgeridoo in the evening is beneficial for people with sleep apnea...

I've got a didj that we bought in Australia...it's in the key of D. I can play it, but that circular breathing thing is really hard!
It does a good job of freaking the cats out...they hide for hours.

Did you know that in Aboriginal culture here in Oz, women are forbidden to play the didgeridoo??
