Thank you Arlo. Last night I saw your show in Seattle, today I'm still thinking about it. At this age I'm not moved as often as I used to be, but you moved me.

I'm thinking that as we get older we're not getting smarter but maybe we were smarter than we thought in our youth. I'm thinking of you with your family traveling across America, and Woody is there too.

Ok I bought the record in 1967, you know the one... I listened, I laughed, I learned it word for word. The draft was hanging over my head. This was all part of the culture. In 1971 I adapted a piece of Alices Restaurant for a high school production. It was a big hit, we had Obie and we had the group W bench. The material couldn't miss, they laughed, they sang along. Most important we got to show this story to the parents. Some of them may have seen the irony for the first time, had their eyes opened even just a little. I tried to put you there, telling the story.

Life went on, I put these little moments of greatness behind, that war ended, the music faded, kids were born, hair turned grey. It's necessary to move forward, we must discard along the way, and we must choose carefully what to keep. There are many treasures. Rather than discard I guess I put a lot in storage. Last night the doors were opened and there's a lot of good stuff in there. You reminded me Arlo, I can't thank you enough.

I agree with Terrie! Very interesting to read, Ed. I HEAR YA LOUD AND STRONG!! Arlo re-opened my door quite a few years ago and I am, once again, hooked. I lost part of ME when the kids were born, but it sure is nice to be back. I have ARLO to thank for opening that door in my life. THANKS, ED! THANKS, ARLO!!
