well I stopped by the Alice Brock Gallery yesterday and was visiting with Alice and her little dog Amy and talking about all kinds of groovy things like Thanksgiving and the article coming out next Tuesday or Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal about Alice(remember Alice?) and the Art show she did in New Bedford last week and her NEW web-site.

so I stopped by the local Cumby's to get a cup of coffee this morning and there on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, above the fold is a sketch of Alice, now the closest I've ever been to Wall St., is watching the movie and I've never purchased a copy of the WSJ, but hey, it's Thanksgiving time and Alice said the reporter Robert Tomsho was an OK guy and the headline was
Arlo Guthrie's 'Alice' Is Alive - and Glad To Be Remembered
so I spent the $1 and it's a pretty good read, but they keep saying Ms Brock and Mr Guthrie when I think Alice and Arlo could have been used, but I guess that's what the tie-wearing WJS's Editors use ??

I checked the Apple iTunes web site a short time ago checking out the list of top selling CDs. The original Alice's Restaurant was at number 13 and Alice's Restaurant (Revisited) was at 57.

Cool! We blunderites have our own holdiday. Thanksgiving lol...

But we kindly share it with others, of course.....

So, I was up in Provincetown, checking out the 9th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival, and by the way, if you get a chance to see the restored "The Whole Shootin' Match" directed by Eagle Pennell, it's a real treat, and having some time to kill, I strolled down Commercial St towards the West End(running into LobsterMan doing his lobster thing and Tawanda doing her Mandolin thing for spare change) to see Alice(remember Alice?).
Well the OPEN sign was hanging up at the Alice Brock Gallery and Amy barked her greeting as I walked in and there was Alice hard at work finishing up the prep work for the exhibit at the The Bookstore in Lenox, Mass. with opening Reception on 07/07/07
So, maybe All you kids can go see Arlo at the Church and connect the dots and go see Alice at The Bookstore and who knows if 50 people, I mean if 50 people a day did this, it might start a Revolution ??

a little tid bit i found; 17 june 1970: mrs. alice brock of "alices restaurant" fame, who was to be the cook for the controversial restaurant operation of the music inn this summer, announces that she is resigning. her reason, she said, is the opposition of a group of stockbridge residents, who have said they fear she will attract an invasion of hippies.

So, we all gathered at Capt'n Elmer's Seafood Restaurant in Orleans today for lunch to wish Ned Sonntag a Happy Birthday, you know Ned, he's the Betty Boop Licensing Artist for King Features Syndicate/ Fleischer Studios and we're sitting around(try the Fried Calamari appetizer) talking about all kinds of groovy things like Alice's recent gig at the Bookstore in Lenox, which was such a success that a pretty famous local Folk Singer couldn't even get in on Saturday !!
Well, what I'm getting at is, did anyone get their copy of "Mooses Come Walking" signed by Alice and Arlo ??

yes' i did happen to get both of them to sign it at the book signing i think back in '94 when it was first published

So, I ventured up to Provincetown to have lunch with Alice(remember Alice?) at Napi's(I reccomend the 1/2 sandwich and soup special) and we're sitting around talking about all kinds of groovy things like the upcoming Thanksgiving show she's going to do for NPR and maybe some future involvement in the local community radio station and wouldn't it be a treat to re-issue "My Life as a Restaurant".

Got up early to go to the Laundromat this fine Sunday morning and as I watched my clothes dancing in the dryer, noticed the Travel section of the Boston Globe opened to "After Alice's restaurants".
Sure enough, Jane Roy Brown had ventured up to Provincetown and spirited Alice around town to some of her favorite spots.
Plenty of Pix and a fine read, while hanging around.

Probably going up to P-Town myself to wish a certain Artist who's initials are AMB a very Happy Happy Birthday on Thursday the 28th, so if you're having lunch at Fanizzi's by the Sea on Thursday stop by and say Hi.
