I'm trying to remember who sang the Sinking of the Titanic, which was popular in the late 1960s (probably 68 or 69). I was sure it was Arlo, but I cannot seem to find out. Anybody remember it. Song is a talker, about as long as Alice's Restaurant and blames the sinking of the titanic on the captain and the first mate smokin refer on the bridge.

I don't know, but sort of sounds like you might be thinking about Gilligan's Island, I think Bob was known to hang out on the reefer deck on occasion. Let us know when you find out, will be interesting. Reminds me of when I was a land surveyor years ago. The old lead surveyor (he called it seeveyor) had all these one liner songs he would blurt out suddenly without warning. One of them was indeed about the Titanic, I can still hear it, "when that great big ship went down, 50 thousand lives would drown, lord have mercy", with a melody of course. Now that would always send us somewhere into the oblivion back in those days, especially after alot of partying the night before. Another tune he sang, "I got me nine little puppies and one old shaggy b____ hound". Whoa, where did that come from.

Jaime Brockett played "The Legend of the U.S.S. Titanic" on the album "Remember The Wind & Rain", which is (amazingly enough) available on CD. He's still around & plays the folk circuits. He played several times at a small folk fest that they used to hold up around these parts some years ago.
