On a more careful read, it appears to be specifically targeting organizations such as the one recently taken to court in the Dallas area for funneling Muslim religious donations to terrorist groups. But it does say (bold added by me):

" any person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense,

(i) to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of:

(A) threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq; or

(B) undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people;"

Given their propensity for using NewSpeak, I can see a march being defined as violence and the "peace or stability of Iraq," "economic reconstruction," and "political reform" as the American war effort.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think they could use this the way they could have even a year ago. The Dems have been spineless in too many ways this year, but I don't think a blatant use of this order in a purely free speech issue would go unchallenged. I hope.

The attorney general is poised to resign ! On Thursday there was an anti war protest on the Westboro, MA, green. Including members of the military and local law enforcement all holding up a multi colored "USA out of Iraq" banner. The Emporer truly has no clothes regardless of what meaningless executive orders he signs.

Back in the early 70's a few of us Hippie-types found out that the "serial number" on the "One Hundred Dollar Bill" rolling papers was the White House phone number. A friend of mine gave it to his Dad (who was fed up with ol' Tricky Dick Nixon). His Dad then called the number and started ranting to whoever he got connected to and wound up being arrested for threatening Nixon, even though the guy was just venting his frustrations.
