Does anyone have any hints for making a song request of Arlo for the upcoming revival at the church next weekend? I would love to hear him do "I Ain't Marching Anymore" since he does it so well on the Phil Ochs tribute CD. Arlo, if you see this, I'd sure appreciate it if you could cover this great song, oh maybe on Saturday, the 20th?

And speaking of the church, for those who haven't been there, it is the best place to hear music, bar none. There is something quite powerful & even sacred about the place that I don't quite grasp, but it is one of my favorite places to be.

Bill - I agree with you 100%!! :) I always feel so comforted when I'm there. It truly is a magical place -- not to mention a beautiful place. I'm looking forward to returning for Saturday night's show. Will you be there for one of the shows? I don't live that far away (about 1 1/2 hours) but schedules with 2 children are always an issue. I make it a point to get to the 3 revivals and treasure the time I spend there. I hope to get there more often this summer.
Peace,
Cyndy

I wonder if the building radiated that same warmth before it became the Guthrie Center? There is just something quite magical about it. There are so many components that make it that way that I can't narrow why it feels so special. It just does, and maybe that's enough.

Cyndy, we'll be there on Saturday. We ususally just go in the fall, but that didn't seem enough this time so we're coming up next weekend. We have made it up during the summer a couple of times but not in the past couple of years.

I wonder if Gaye Lynch's painting will still be there? I always thought that the Guthrie Center should sell prints of her painting of the church. What a gifted artist she was and what a loss her passing was to the Guthrie Center community.

I will be up at the church next Friday the 19th, this will be my first revival show ever. I can't wait I'm counting down the days, hours, minutes, seconds, uh what comes after seconds? I hear that all of the church revival shows are cabaret style and actually serve wine and beer that is so rad! :P Most of the venues only serve coffee, soda, and water .... I would just love to hear Arlo perform "Bouncing Around the Room" that is Phish cover song and "All This Stuff Takes Time" and the majority of us will be bouncing around the room :) I hear the Saturday show is sold out and I wonder if anyone else will be at the Friday show?

Peace

When I was there last fall, it was beautifully hanging in the Church. I would love to have a print of her painting of the Church -- it is beautiful! She was, indeed, a VERY gifted artist. I remember sitting on the steps infront one evening before a show and she was telling me that she gave it to Arlo and he didn't want to open it right aweay. She told him that 'She'd wait there until he opened it' and he was happy. I miss her, Hope to see you -- I'll be there on Saturday. :)

I was also there that night when Gaye gave Arlo the painting and have a photo of that momentous event. When I was there last fall, not only was that painting there (where it should always hang) but several of her other works as well. Definitely good stuff. What a character she was. She was the entertainment while we waited in line in the rain, snow, on those October evenings. Kind of the opening act....
