I've never heard of a cheese with maggots. Sounds revolting. But a good cheese (camembert) has to stink. Once you get over the smell it tastes awfully good. France, Netherlands. Belgium and Denmark for me has the best stinky cheese. I start enjoying it the moment I drive it home from the store. The car gets a good odor. After that you can enyoy it without actually eating every time you open the refrigerator.

That really sounds gross lol. I remember back in the 70's folks making jokes about maggots. Yikes...

I'd have problems eating anything with maggots..that's just so WRONG!!!
On the other hand, last week our dog ate paper towels that had a little olive oil on 'em...I bet he'd also like maggoty cheese.

Blow fly larvae have been used for centuries to help speed healing of wounds that have necrotic (dead) tissue. Today, specially bred (disinfected) fly larvae are used in medicine. They consume the necrotic tissue and leave the healthy tissue untouched, actually hastening recovery time. Sort of like the "un-neutron bomb" of medicine.

This of course includes dead brain tissue, which is why Blow Fly larvae are not permitted in the oval office. They would eat themselves to death if they were of course.........
