This is the most snow we've had in a really long time over here! about 11 inches. We really needed the water here, the river in my town has been very low for a few years. And guess what??? Some dumb bunny has suggested draining the great lakes to help with the draught down south. And guess what else??? Our governor sold off some of our state forrest land to pay the states debts! I can not believe how absolutely stupid this is....

Those are right up there with "let's build a fence through 1,700 miles of largely uninhabited desert." Stupid, stupid, stupid politicians.

How else do you put how stupid THEY are?
I wanna see a gov that will go the extra mile for its people and its enemies.
And maybe do to their friends what they have been doing to US.

Trust me, no one in Michigan is willing to let go of any of the Great Lakes water! Lake Michigan has been going down in the last few years.

However, if we keep getting a foot of snow at a time, it may fill back up! Makes it rather exciting getting down our ski-hill of a driveway--which ends in a narrow bridge over a creek. Pretty much point the car downhill, put it in the lowest gear, close my eyes and pray I make it over the bridge ... lol.

At least we EXPECT this in Michigan and weren't hit as hard as Oklahoma and some other area. Didn't lose electricity in this storm either, so we've considered ourselves very lucky. Cold and knee-deep in snow, but LUCKY.

Glad you're doing okay. Hang in there in the snow...

The Grand Canyon was great! We all really enjoyed the train ride in and out of the park, and the views in the snow were great! I think collectively, we took about 900 photos and a couple hours of video.
We're in Tucson, enjoying 65 degree weather and sun...later today we'll head north to see a meteor crater and some petrified wood before we head off to Vegas (not my thing, but the kids want to go, and we're flying out of there ) and head home. Looks like tonight will be in the Flagstaff area. Back to winter temperatures! We may or may not be seeing Jim's brother and sister in law there. It's a long story...!!

Sue, you're going to LOVE meteor crater and Petrified Forest/Painted Desert. Amazing vistas! At meteor crater, be prepared for either a VERY long hike along the rim, or lots of steps. And be sure to make time to see the short video first.

While in Flag, try to make time to get to Sunset Crater just east of Flag (it's not a meteor, it's volcanic)... and gorgeous! Lots of different kinds of lava.

Pam, I give folks like you a LOT of credit for living where you do... I couldn't handle a tiny hill in snow. Matter of fact, I couldn't handle driving on a flat road in snow! Scares the daylights outta me... so much so that when it's even threatening to snow, I become "paralyzed" with fear. One reason why I left PA... when it snows here, it's usually gone by noon... and schools are closed anyway.

I've seen part of the grand canyon, but only from about 30,000 feet. from up there, it looks like a little green creek. But then again, I was a bit distracted with the chicken flying everywhere around the plane at the time.

Sounds like a fun trip Sue is on. I am afraid to drive in snow so when it snows I stay in. I remember one time riding with Mike & some friends in my friends 72 Vega in the snow. We fit 4 of us in that thing lol...

LOL ... snow ain't so bad, ICE is the problem for me!

Had to go into town last Sunday--after deep snow. As soon as the plow guy left, I headed out. Being at the edge of the county, we are dead last on the list to get our streets plowed (even though it's sort of a major road).

The worry was not sliding off the road--it's getting STUCK in deep snow! There's farm fields down the road, so lots of snow drifts across. All I can say is thank goodness for big trucks leaving good tire tracks!

NOW, still pretty and roads are clear. I do like a white Christmas (the holiday I celebrate during the Holiday Season).

Snow closes schools here too--guess it's cheaper to do that than plow the roads so the busses can get through.

Ice is scary for me. I was in the great ice storm of 1966 & the great ice storm of 1998. Folks are still talking about which one was the worse, in 66 I went to school in the snow and ice in a wool miniskirt. In 98 I was having Christmas Eve dinner in a auto junkyard & Christmas dinner with my folks at the only eating joint open on Christmas, a Chinese place. But despite the cold & no electricity, it was a time spent with family...
