This link seems like a real good idea to me, if the People ever want real change.

Well, with Edwards out (I was leanin' towards him) I'm down to Hillary or Obama. Nader is talking of giving it a go again but I fear that would only bring about a repeat of the 2000 election. Dang! Nobody makes this easy, do they? I reckon now I'm leanin' toward the "O" man! As Bill Moyers pointed out to critics who said Obama doesn't have the experience, he has more than Lincoln did when he was elected. And, most of the time, experience seems to turn into "business as usual". I don't need to quote the movie "Network" about that, do I?

I'm leaning heavy towrds Obama as well. It's a fine line, but he seems more ambitious to DO the job, where Hillary seems more ambitious to GET the job. Plus Hillary has sided with the bad guys once too often.

Leoburg, that is a great link! I support it 100%. We NEED to start taking care of our own here, feeding our hungry, housing our poor and caring for our sick. I, for one, don't have a problem with 'social' being a prefix to programs that help others.

Cap't. Zap, I'm with you on the Edwards support (I mentioned it in a reply in the Ron Paul thread)--oh, how I wish others had seen his promise. I, too, feel that maybe Obama's inexperience may be a big plus. Let's stop with status quo and move forward without the chains of 'experience'.

Larry, you stated precisely why I worry about Hillary. Sure, I'll vote for her if it comes down to Hillary vs one of the rubberstamps on the other side.

It's been a difficult week with John Edwards suspending his campaign. Seeing your three posts was like finding a warm campfire on a cold hike.
Thanks, guys.

I wish Edwards words of Unions being the best anti-poverty system we have, more than his haircut made the news. Though we live in a land of material wealth, it isn't much different with the robber barons still running things. Unions are where I will stake the answer to health care is.
How the right can speak of smaller govt. while at the same time breaking the Unions is stupidity at its worst. Or cutting everyones throats except the super wealthy.

Ok, this is radical, but please hear me out. ( I am sorry , Larry, truly! I know I already cause you to drink bourbon! Forgive me! )

It is a given there is a Barak craze going on. There is a sense he is a man on a mission, but do we know about what he really wants to get accomplished, and how he is gong to do this once he gets into the White House? Is there a business plan, so to speak?

I like him, lots of folks on the bench like him! Even Oprah likes him. So now Barak moves into the White House with no experience in Washington. We like him, but are we ok with turning our country over to him?

Barak said in an interview last Sunday that uniting the country would allow him to move his agenda forward. I sense from this that the success of his strategy hinges on uniting across political lines, and fear he cannot do this. That is, the strategy may be based on a premise not attainable.

In this election there is no big “judgment – inducing”, self- righteous, morality- fueled bandwagon to ride like BUSH did with abortion, still BO’s race has a similar feeling in that his motorcade is fueled on a promise without substantive politics to back it up. Let’s face it , The O man ( nice name, Zap!) is looking to get a decision that comes from the heart but feels like it’s coming from the gut, to get programs advanced that hinge on unified political lines. Can he do this? I will support him if he gets the nomination, but I question, how is he going to do this? He is already being pigeonholed by GOPs as a liberal whose is using a 40 year old road map.

Tell us NOT WHAT YOU SAY YOU WANT TO DO FOR THIS COUNTRY, BUT WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH GIVEN WASHINGTON POLITICS!

A little off topic. But a Brother of Mine said I would get corrupt if I ever got into power. Somehow he never understood the only power I was ever after was that of influence. My being blue collar to the core. And wishing nothing more out of life than to see people happy, so I could kick their butts in Pool, Darts or 3 cushion Billiards, or at least have a good time trying.
But I guess I will have to ask him, "If you think I would be corrupt if in my ideas got into power. Why do you now support your church and politics now?
Ya, know what I'm trying to say.
I mean I would have all blunderville and adg to straighten me out to my face if I ever crossed the line. I mean we already have oppression and greed running this Land, how much could a blue collar man hurt that?
I've always joked to people who know me, "I want to be bigger than the President, and more popular than the Beatles." lol (That might piss the Pope off though.)-and no one would ever need to know who I am. Though I have been told I look like John Lennon and or Arlo's son. Though I have seen Abe, I don't look anything like him... I'm still blond at 50.
So what I am trying to say is, if all power ends up corupt... I guess we are doomed.-rep or dem.

I don't know what an oracle would be. But if it has to do with a spoke person, I'll take it. Build up the Unions. The rest will take care of all of us soon after.
I will say time after time, the People own the tv and oil, get rid of lots of the military, and we can feed our enemies, and take care of our sick.
That is the fate of one who has listened to adg's Someday 10,000 times over 10 years or so.
And please let me drive when I'm sober. I could find another soul mate that way.

Back at the beginning of this topic, Shelley asked me to check if NM is a primary or caucus state. I found out just a few days ago that, while NM is a primary state, for the second time we will be a caucus state on Tuesday.

What this means for me is that I won't be able to go vote at the polls. That's because they've merged 10 precincts into one voting place, will only have them open from noon til 7 PM. I teach from 7:30 AM until 3:10 PM. Then I have to drive across town, find parking at the university and be in my seat by 4 PM for a 2-1/2 hour class. No latenesses, no excuses, no "reasons" for being late or absent. Since it's a grad program, the profs have the right to drop us from the program for being late!

Amazing, isn't it? I can't even cast my vote on Tuesday. I'm so frustrated with the "system."

MG, while the GOP may be pigeon holing the "O man" as using a 40 year old road map, they have been using a timeless one that's routes are greed, deceit, lies, manipulation, death and destruction, to only name a few of the roads that they've taken. And they've left a trail of bodies and tears and loss in their wake on the way to their destination of a dead end street. We never know what may be around the corner or over the next rise or mountain but I think maybe a forty year old road map might have a few side streets that haven't yet been explored. And maybe, just maybe, there might be something good waiting down a few of them.

Any street MaCain or Romney took us down, it would sure surprise me if anything turned up.
All I can see is a 100 year WAR, and or being illegal not to have health care.

I hope you know that it's because i respect your ideas, MG, that I respond to your posts.... though we disagree sorta..:).....
....so here is a radical idea...

yes, Hillary has more experience and probably more of a plan... and Obama is alot from the heart... but I think this country needs someone speaking from the heart... Washington politics as usual is crushing alot of us folks.... it is so entwined with corporations and money and special interests.. that everyday folks have no place... and it keeps getting worse... we have lost so much belief that what we want or need is ever heard or responded to... we are allowing ourselves to be abused more than ever by those we the deciders vote into office... and closing our eyes to atrocities that our leaders commit in our very names....

so i am not so willing to go with who has the better plan... to walk through that swamp?!!... i want to take a chance on someone that seems to prefer building a bridge over it.... finding another way before we all sink in the quicksand.... and truly believing it's a risk that this is the man... he certainly seems to have the heart to do it...and that act takes heart... not a plan, not a manipulation... but a pure intention....

KJ, you are cool.
Maybe only adg could use so many words to say Barack has heart.
I want to see and hear someone talk of real solutions for at least health care.
The day is going to have to come for this Land to spend lots of its military trash/cash on electric cars.
I hope I am still sane when that day comes.

Hi kj!

I never really got to the radical idea I had, but it has to do with a unified Democratic ticket....breaking though a glass ceiling on VP office . It seems to me they want to get to the same as I expressed in my profile: Peace, social justice. and religious tolerance.

So Now a choice? What to do?

Barak provides inspiration to build the bridge, as you poignantly described. Hillary knows how to get it built, but is too corporate. We for once have this choice, how to make sure we get one – or both of them – in?

My radical idea was to have Hillary declare before Tuesday that she would ask the O man to be her running mate. She would say ," If I'm nominated, I will ask Barak Obama to be the Vice President." Radical - I know.
