The problem is that you have to have (or have access to) a gajillion dollars to even think about running for president. There are a lot of good presidents in our midst. They just can't meet that gajillion benchmark.

Au contraire. Our Resident managed to fail spectacularly at business, losing millions of his investors' money, before he was tapped to run for the office he got but didn't win. It's only if you're a Democrat that you must be a success at something.

One thing I agree with Dubya on is wanting most of a Congress to resign.
Some where today I read something like why should all that trash/cash go to D.C. then back tot he States? From what I have just heard about hemp being able to produce fuel, D.C. better get it together real soon.

I say give Hils a go, for at least four years. Let the young whippersnapper (well he is a couple of DECADES behind Hils in age) be VP those four years and learn, then give him his place in the sun.
As I've said before, I'm out here in another part of the world, removed from it a little and I really think (as others who are looking in have said to me) Hils,by her exposer over decades and her age, would be taken more seriously out in the big world at this particular time in U.S. history when it's reputation is in tatters.

I am disturbed to read reports of outright mysoginistic and sexist verbal attacks being made on female Hils supporters. I mean I know it was scary for Shel and Jay when they drove around Dallas with Kerry stickers on their car last time, but to be verbally abused while in your car sounds a bit much to me. And apparently this is going on in many other areas including an online hate Hilary site wilth 36,000 members who are telling her to "get out of the White House and go make me a sandwich". From what I've read it's not acceptable to be racist but it is to be sexist at the moment and many males are starting to show their true colors? Is this for real? Have any of you experienced it or know someone else who has?

Louise, I haven't heard any of this. The worst I've heard is Hillary supporters saying they'll vote for McCain if Obama gets the nomination and, in reaction, the reverse but in smaller numbers. Just stupid stuff. Are you sure that wasn't from Faux News?

I guess I haven't seen it so much in my workplace, as the men there overwhelmingly are as anti-Obama as they are anti-Clinton, so it comes across as just the usual party differences. A friend has run across it in one guy at her dance lessons, but everyone else there just writes him off as a nutcase.

All that about the dispartities in the workplace certainly is true. (I notice they didn't mention their own corporate structure vis-a-vis women.) But I resent the Wall Street Journal strongly implying that if I'm a good feminist, I must vote for Sen. Clinton. I'm a patriotic citizen, and I'll vote for the one I consider to be the best candidate. Could they be trying to sway women to vote for her, knowing that the polls say it will be harder for her to beat McCain than it will be for Sen. Obama? Nah, the WSJ wouldn't do that ... they've always been fair, and really cared about women's rights.

But still, the reporting about Clinton-bashing is probably true, and that's awful. People can be such babies, and when adults are babies, it can be dangerous.

I haven't seen this either... though I've heard a few say that they would vote for McCain over one or the other Dem, so I suppose there is still a bit of both sexism and/or racism in these individuals.

FYI... Wall Street Journal is owned by Rupert Murdock, therefore it's editorial board tends to be in a similar vein as Faux (Fox) news...
