No chance whatsoever that America will elect Obama. Still a long way to go before an African-American can be elected president. I'll vote for Obama in the primary but in the November election I'll vote for the most radical leftist on the ballot in North Carolina, whoever it may be. THe funny thing is when people speak from their guts during the election they are hushed. I mean, I don't think Obama was far off base with the Guns and Religion comments and I don't think Geraldine Ferraro was off base either. THese were honest comments that I believe have merit. If you speak of race its wrong but everybody knows racism exists if you speak of religion and guns its wrong but everybody knows there is a redneck culture in America. Now the rednecks are losing jobs and paying more so they are less likely to put on that republican Bull Shit role and more likely to vote for something different.

I've always voted Republican (is that boos I hear) but my thinking is the Dem's will continue to tax us to death. Isn't that why we seperated from England in the 1st place? However Bush (to me) is just a Dem in costume, (except for his war effort that is), SPEND, SPEND, SPEND. For example, why did we spend billions and billions to rebuild a city that is 24 approx. feet under sea level, in it's current location?
Really the only thing a Pres. is good for is veto power, appointing judges, leading the military and PR. The rest of the mess can be blamed on Congress and most of them aren't to be trusted either.

I think if you ask the people of New Orleans, they will tell you that city is their home, and that's why it has been rebuilt. Those who did not want to live there moved away.

So basically what I hear you saying is that New Orleans should not have been rebuilt and the people who live there should have been forced to relocate. Which means to me that you are suggesting taking away yet another freedom we enjoy. Haven't we had enough of our freedom taken away yet?

Why put all these dollars into rebuilding it under sealevel? The flooding is just to happen again. Why waste the effort? Why WASTE the money?
Couldn't the money be used for something consructive (like helping the people find a decent place to live)?
It just doesn't make sense to me. For all that matters, why build on a flood plain or a hillside prone to mudslides?

The definitions have changed. Republicans used to be the party that was tight with the purse strings and for less government intrusion not only for bussiness, but for other things as well. the new republicanism is based largely on social conservatism and a debt laden borrow and spend policy as opposed to a tax and spend policy, which long term is far worse. They insult thinking people by providing tax cuts and small stimulas checks while driving us deeper into debt. Doing that during war time is unprecedented and feeds into the plans of the likes of Osama Bin Laden who is actually winning the strategic war by bleeding us dry, much as we did to the former Soviet Union.This is the price for putting a moron like Bush in charge because he says he reads the bible, says he will lower taxes and is against such things as equal rights for gays.The dumbing down of America costs us all.

Borrow and spend or OVERtax and spend are both bad things. pay as you go might be the best thing.You may recall that Bill Clinton left office with a surplus after being left a big deficit, and things were good. look at stuff now.Biz is flat, I run the family store and I can sure feel it, and I ain't alone.
There are plenty of dollars going to Iraq that could be doing a lot of good here. This moron Bush came in with a surplus and put every man women and child into debt for 30 to 40 thousand dollars......so far!

Barbara Bush says they are underprivelged anyway, so they should be thankful for anything they get. Karl Rove spun the whole Katrina thing into a government program to give each citizen his or her own swimming pool. And Bush just said " Helluva job Brownie"!

Unfortunately, bigotry is alive and well in America/on the planet. A few years back, my fair-haired, fair-skinned better half accompanied a woman of Egyptian descent as the woman was apartment hunting. Lots of looks of disdain, "Sorry, it's been rented," or unanswered doors (even though some one was obviously home). In one instance, an appointment had been made to show her the apartment but upon their arrival it had, unfortunately, been rented out just a couple of hours before.

I really think that most people vote for stupid, superficial reasons. Even a politically savvy friend of mine had John Edwards reduced to his expensive haircuts! Yep! That's a good reason to not vote for him!

I'd like to think that, maybe, this time we can look past the superficialities. I'd like to think that.

The change I would like to see happen, is for America to quit throwing our money @ problems and start finding solutions. That will never happen tho, because the 2 parties don't believe in a middle ground. Then they would have no power over us.

I don't see where you are proposing a middle ground. I would not vote for you.
