As usual I have to speak up for the other 50 something % of the population. Lots of good things mental and physical will come (pardon the pun) to both genders if this article and book became required reading for all persons over 18. This article and book describe one of my pet peeves.
Penis and intercourse focus of "sex"

In Dementia training we learned that Dementia could be likened to a basket of fruit.............Half the basket could be apples and this represents the Dementia that is caused by Alzheimers which is 50%. Then we could have a few oranges that represent, say, alchohol induced Dementia, then a few pears which represent Picks Disease and so on .....

So Sex should be a basket of fruit with "intercourse" being one of the fruits instead of the whole basket.
So we would talk about having "intercourse" instead of having "sex" when refering to I had intercourse and and got pregnant instead of I had sex. Or in ads for pap smears etc they would say "if you have had intercourse (instead of saying "sex") even once, you should start having pap smears.

Sex should include all areas, if you get my drift, not just mean intercourse.
Can you imagine all the women who went thru decades of marriage or just life and thru their own and their partners ingnorance thought that intercourse was IT and never experienced the "fireworks"

If they had been more informed and it was not so taboo to talk about what is really good for women they would have been alot happier,
Of course that wanker Freud is to blame for alot of it. How can a female suffer from penis envy when she has a similar body part, except for most of it is internal or "hidden" Gosh even, so called, ingnorant savages have been mutilating (not circumsizing, as men don't get their penis cut off) their women so they won't enjoy "sex" so much and run after other men.

I know you are all mature experienced people and know all this stuff already but if I can help someone learn the truth about women and that
the 70% or so of women who orgasm by clitoral stimulation and not vaginal "intercourse" are NOT "sexually disfunctional" it will be worth all this tying and spelling mistakes! (sorry Miss Ceashel)

Here's the article which mentions the book also. The article is three pages long and worth the read.

Shere Hite wrote about this stuff for decades and was crucified for it, hopefully we can all get over the hangups and bring more good lovin' into this world from now on.

Sorry to be such a wet blanket, but this subject is one of my pet peeves and when Zap brought the subject up, I just saw an opening and went for it!
(see I can be funny sometimes!)

One day we will get onto language or the use of words without realizing what we are saying, that's another of my PP's.

Right before I go to bed I've been checking up on my Arlo friends. Some of those times it's 45 minutes after I took an Ambien. I don't often remember every thing I do or say for about the 1st three hours.

Tonight I came home and opened up my email and saw that I had forwarded that article with some commentary to someone and to my self. I hate it when this happens. I'm thinking, "how did I find an article about masturbation in the first place, and who the hell did I send it too"?

Then I read my comment. Bein' a clinician and all at my day job, dealing with women's heath, reproductive health, etc. I actually get paid to say the names of peoples bits through out my day.

In my commentary I had apparently suggested that a double blind study would be in order. There should be two groups of folks in the 50 year old or above range. Group number 1 would be couples using marital aids, facial massagers or some other adult toy not even trying to pretend it's for your health. Then group 2 would consist of individuals, affectionately called the "loner" group. They could also use props and toys. Then we could see which group came out with the best results. (no pun intended).

After 20 years of my being in this field of work, my husband still say's "Hey" (like in 'your being inappropriate' way) If I say the word penis or vagina at the dinner table. For crying out loud Man! I've been teaching prepared birth classes since 1988. Get over it!

Well, I asked my husband at dinner, "Honey did I send you an article about masturbation and prostrate health"? He said "Hey I'm trying to eat my dinner here!" I said "What does that have to do with Masturbation or your prostrate?" It was down hill from there.

It seems he was not the recipient.

Checking out the forum tonight at least told me where I'd got the article.

However, it still begs the question of: "Who the hell did I send this to?"

If anyone here knows could to tell me? And if that person was offended please forgive me. I was on drugs.

Peace and Love,
Primula Brandybuck

Looks like I get all my news from Arlonet first. I heard this mentioned on the Frick & Frack show on WHAP last nite. I told Mike, I heard about it on Arlonet first...

Yeah Primula some of us don't mind using correct words for anatomy, but penis is still more acceptable than vagina and try saying clitoris and eveyone looks very uncomfortable. I also have a problem when children and young people are given silly names to use and also that penis and vagina may be taught to some but not clitoris. Why are we still so hung up about it?

Imagine the pressure that would be taken off men, who thru illness or age, feel that they have to take a bunch of drugs or use some contraption because they were mistakenly worried about "saving my marriage" or "keeping my wife happy" when their wife could be kept happy even if they could never have an erection again. The pressure men put on themselves to "perform" must be unbearable at times.

I especially like the idea of the "fruit basket" analogy. My kids (now in their 20s) don't see "sex" as being anything other than "intercourse." They point to Clinton as their source of information about terminology. "I did NOT have sex with that woman." OK... so we all know he lied... I don't care about that as much as I do that my kids don't believe that "all that other stuff" is "having sex."

I think I might give them the fruit basket analogy... thanks for sharing it.

i cannot tell a lie... I'm almost always prostrate while masturbating.

And I'm sometimes prostrate while the doc checks me prostate!

I favor the former, and reluctantly submit to the latter...

My Dearest Arni,

Besides making me laugh enough to pee my pants, (another affliction of female aging) I feel like a total moron! Of course it's prostate and not prostrate!javascript:emoticon('')

Dherrrr, If you ask me a breastfeeding or female reproductive question I will sound much more smarter,I promise. You see, I learned that stuff before I started having daily migraines. For the last 8 years I've been functioning on autopilot and drugs.

Some of my fondest memories are of my children begging me not to open the trunk of my car around their friends. It usually contained at least one muppet breast, a fake pelvis and a knitted uterus and vagina. Did you know that if you invert a fake pelvis and put it on your head backwards you can pretend you're a Klingon and be the most humiliating mom in the galaxy?

Furthermore, if you pass a muppet breast around a room of expectant moms and dads, the moms are taking this all very seriously, while the dads are trying very hard to avoid eye contact with any other male in the room, because they know that if they make eye contact with another guy they will start busting up laughing and will be in very big trouble once they get to the car after class. Besides, I would make the instigator come up front with me to demonstrate pelvic tilts. Classes without the dads are so *suckingly boring. (that's a new word I just made up)

Dearest louise,

If I could get a teenager in the back seat of my car they could count on receiving a comprehensive discussion on the entire fruit basket on STD's, sex and date rape. My two daughters weren't always happy about it, but they liked it when their friends told them they had the coolest mom ever because she talks about "sex" (not just intercourse) and she turns up the metal on the radio really loud.

(Don't even get me started on the junior high girls who are 8 months pregnant I have taught prepared childbirth to who have a boyfriend making them have intercourse literally 5 times a night because the SOB's don't have to go to work tomorrow. The girls didn't like it but said they thought it was normal.)

Many other girls have been brought to me by my daughters because the poor young women wanted me to check and make sure they didn't have deformed breasts because the extremely wide variety of normal breasts aren't the stereo typical porn queen breasts. It makes me crazy to hear young women are having plastic surgery to make their labia more attractive!

But I digress. Back to masturbation. I went to my first ever even heard of "Naughty Lady Party" quite recently. ( Oh so many toys and so little time). 7 women over 35 years old or more (only 2 of us married) spent at least an hour or so passing various implements of masturbation or items to enhance sexual pleasure around the room and discussing their use, while waring name tags with "Slutty Susan" and so forth written on them.

I started a small pile of items I planed to purchase including something for my 21 year old, single daughter. These silly women were scandalized that I would buy my daughter such an item. I can't even remember what I said, but they all shut their silly mouths. I probably gave them the pithy version of the STD talk. Then I ruined the "tupperware" lady's sales pitch on a lotion to make one's vagina tighter by informing them it contained lidocaine used to numb the tissue that has the side effect of causing the tissue to plump up. That's why some a-hole OB/GYN's used to want to sew up episiotomies without pain relief because the plumping tissue was more difficult to match up the edges and suture. It was probably too much information. (I hope that doesn't get me banned from all future Naughty Lady parties).

Then the "tupperware" lady let us know that she would be in the study so that we could each purchase our items privately. (This is after she had given us all Q tips with several potions to make one's clitoris more sensitive and had us each go to to the bathroom and try try them out.)

Excuse me! There was no way I was going to let anyone make it to the study. Myself and another childbirth educator informed everyone else that we were in a hurry to get home and would like to purchase our things right now. Needless to say, she never made it to the study. I also suggested that someone start a line of toys for fat girls who have a difficult time reaching all of their bits. (Can't be done prostrate, in case Arni wondered). I think these items are wonderful for couples who have PID, back pain and any other problems that keep them from having intercourse. And fat girls can have assistance so that they don't have to be able to reach what ever part of their sexual anatomy that needs attention from her "Rabbit". (It's the bomb! And Mother's Day is just around the corner.)

Totally seriously now. If anyone is really interested in helping to stop female genital mutilation. This is a great organization to check out.

Did you know that 95% of all women in Egypt are victims of FGM?

Peace,
Primula Brandybuck

Wh-at about the high school boys who push girls into blowjobs by convincing them that it's not really sex! Wonder who they learned that from!
