I'm begining to think Cliff is right. I've begun to wonder if we are dealing with more than meets the eye with this person. This person posts one line blurbs of bigotry and rarely anything more in the way of discussion. And we all kindly respond as if this person has the capacity to understand, mostly based on the fact that this person seems to be a fan of someone we all admire.

It is said that ignorance is bliss. Does that inversely mean that to ignore someone can also bring the ignorer bliss?

Cheryl, I noticed that you seem to divide the entire country into just liberals and conservatives? I wonder if there are any who are in-between? Can someone espouse some "liberal" views along with some "conservative" ones? What is it EXACTLY that makes Obama a "liberal?" What is it EXACTLY that you don't like about him, or other "liberals?" What are the ISSUES you speak of?

although conservatives say he's liberal and progressive, he has stated many positions that are quite moderate.... though he has a history of being more progressive... and left leaning... i'm content with waiting to see... and still being active in supporting causes and positions that fit my beliefs....
to me, that's part of living in a democracy...
and we can't expect any one person or administration to take care of everything...

why i'm so pleased at this time to see him heading for the oval office is that he seems to be an amazingly fair and open-minded man willing to listen and weigh his decisions, perhaps even responsive to the voice of the people ...he knows American life from the poorest to the middle class to the upper stratosphere.... where so many ultra-rich have clue what even working class life is like...

he seems to want to govern with us, the people...not just on his own agenda...

so we'll see..

James Kennedy & Jerry Falwell are good ones. Kennedy's church is a part of the same Presbyterian denomination our church is & it's a good one. I met Falwell once & he was a nice guy. His neighbors like Arlo. Obama does have a few good qualities. His faith in God & the fact he seems like a good family man who loves his family. Good luck to him. He's sure gonna need it...,

Kennedy and Falwell are good ones of what? I'm not sure what question you were trying to answer there.

So far as Obama being a nice god fearing family man, on that we can agree. As far as him needing some good luck, we can agree on that also, mostly due to the horrible job Bush did.

It's nice to actually like the person that we elect president, and it may be nice to know that they share many of your owm "values" and "morals". However, way too much attention is paid to stuff like that compared to focusing on the persons ability to do the job. Frankly, I would not want my sister dating Bill Clinton, but I'd take him back as president based on the job he did. Manypeople that have known or met Bush say he is a nice guy to be around, but I would not elect him as dog catcher.
I really don't care if the president molests armidillos, so long as he/she does a good job.The armidillos of course may not share my view.
I really believe that Obama will do and become what Bush said he would but didn't. A uniter, not a divider. It's happening already, and I hope, pray and expect it to continue even after the traditional 6 month presidential honeymoon is past.

So, let's remember to try and put substance ahead of style, deeds ahead of rhetoric and intellect and pragmatism ahead of ideaology and stubburness when we atempt to judge the people that hold the most important job in the world.

they ain't no good to me...I put them right there with Osama Bin Laden...were I superstitious I would label them minions of the devil leading the world into hell...but I ain't superstitious so I believe them to be misguided unethical and immoral bad men!!!!

Cheryl, these people are being very patient with you and all you can come up with is 'Oh well....." Have you always followed your mother's views and never wavered? I only say that because you alluded to her views some time ago and I had to wonder how old you were. When I found out you were an adult woman, married and, I would guess, living away from home, I was truly perplexed.

You profess to being a huge 'fan' of ADG, going to concert after concert when they are in your vicinity. Is it just 'fandom' or do you ever truly listen to and process the lyrics? From what you state as your political beliefs, I would think that Hank Williams, Jr. or Toby Keith or any of that ilk would be speaking to/for you.

You have a loving group of people here at arlo.net and, from what I'm reading, they'd truly like to know more about how you formed your political beliefs as they are so far apart from the majority of folks who have been listening to and attending Arlo's concerts for several decades.

Here in California we overwhelmingly voted for Obama, yet the majority also passed an amendment to our state constitution that bans same sex marriage. Vote for Obama and discrimination at the same time. Even in what is usually considered the most progressive state, I guess there are some things our conservatives/religious right still aren't ready for. I'm encouraged about our choice for President, but discouraged about Prop. 8. I do think we lost something.

While I do share alot of my moms political views, I don't share them all tho lol. I was anti-Nam & she wasn't & thinks my views on that are too radical. Actually I was a conservative before I got into Arlo in 1988. He's been a big inspiration in my life since then. There are a few conservatives who like Arlo besides me, like the Wiz, our churches pastor, one of our churches former pastors and a guy who went to school I did, the same time Mike & I did but he & Mike were in an older grade than me. Mike just told me he loves Arlo no matter what views we may or may not share. We love everyone on here and even tho we all may not agree we're a family thanks to Arlo & brought together by him. Like someone said on here, to each their own. It's kinda hard to explain my views alot of times & find the right things to say. It is interesting reading the stuff on here...
