I'm not sure I understand what it is you'd like to know.

Follow the 2 links in my first post and then respond to the poll based on how you would feel if you received these 2 emails at work. (Like I did)

I found both of these linked images very offensive... and I'd probably say so to whoever it was that sent them.

Racism is alive in the US - although I sincerely hope that it is diminishing. The election of Barack Obama is likely to bring racism back to the forefront in this country, and it's up to people like you and me to let others know that we will not stand for it.

If I'm not mistaken, there have already been a couple of plots against Obama that have been foiled. I'm praying that any others out there are foiled as well.

My sense of humor has pretty wide boundries, but I found these to be very offensive.

The first one was funny in a very sad way. My husband works for the Dept of Welfare and he told me about that pic awhile ago. He said it does have some truth to it, sad as that is. Is it "racist" that he says so? Not at all; his relatives are bi-racial. It's just the reality of where he works and what he deals with on a daily basis.

The dollar bill, however, is disgusting!

Their are white people on welfare as well as black people who work hard. In saying Obama loses the black vote, this refers to all blacks. To group people by race and say they all behave in the same way due to their race, well to me that is racism.

rac⋅ism
1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

I don't know what your point was in posting those links; of course they are offensive, and I don't think you needed us to tell you that...your co-worker had no business sending it around, either. Not professional, and it didn't belong in the workplace. It doesn't belong here, either.

Some folks are just not ready for the change that's on the way. Archie Bunker is alive and well. Speaking of 2 dead guys: "They" wanted to put Ronnie Ray-gun on the 10 dollar bill to replace Alexander Hamilton. A bunch of musicians thought Ray (Charles) would be a much better tribute to America. You can cast your vote at http://www.rayontheten.com.

For clairity I think he pronounces his name " 'fitty' cent". I only mention it because I routinely conflict with my teenager about how gansta rap artists perpetuate stereotypes about african americans (not to mention glorify misogyny, substance abuse, and violence) to benefit their own greed. Many prominent citizens such as Bill Cosby, Allvyn Poussaint, MD, and Will Smith have spoke about this. I'm very curious how/if President Obama will address the self defeating aspects of "hip hop culture".

Where I work sending that type of email around would get you terminated, it would be like sending a Haunaka card with a swastika.

The first pic I found weird & really couldn't figure it out. The 2nd one was definitely racist. Why anyone would want to send that one to anyone I can figure out. The 2nd one was not funny to me...

I have seen worse these last few months. I make it clear I am a dead end for trash and don't appreciate it. People assume I might like this crap since I have a bit of an Oklahoma accent.

Hi DRR,
I looked at the pixs before I first asked my question. As you can see from the posts, we don't find racism funny. I agree with Sue, and am wondering still ... what you'd like to know. I'd also like to know how you feel about those pixs.
Thanks
Cheryl

Those are disgusting; both of them. Like PSB, I'm often a "dead end for trash" and it just drives me wild. I may have ended a 20-year acquaintance/sort-of-friendship a couple of days ago because of my reply to an e-mail promoting intolerance. And after all, getting rid of the garbage is what we do around here!
