Odetta is seriously ill in a NYC hospital. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Blundervibes are there from here. I believe that she will sing at the inauguration.

I believe she will too. Reg and I saw Odetta perform (with Pete) this past spring and although she was in a wheelchair she sat ramrod straight and her powerful voice was not diminished at all. I remember vividly her hands, long, thin fingers, delicate yet strong. She always struck me as having almost a regal bearing, truly a queen.

Odetta Trivia Question: what art gallery did Odetta play in the Berkshires (Lenox) in the early '60s? Winner gets the "Old As Dirt Award" and subscription. Love you O. We'll hear you singing wherever you are. mike

I was listening to NPR on my way to work and heard that Odetta has passed away. A very sad day for folkies everywhere. Prayers and vibes to all her family and friends. NPR played her Amazing Grace at the end of their story so beautiful.

I hadn't heard of her passing until I got to work. I copied this for you all. She was magnificent. I am so glad I got to see her. She was life changing. Such a combination of strength and beauty.
