and now for something completely different

A man who is on my top three list of (said with that heavy voice from above sound) TOP ARTISTS, POETS AND SONGWRITERS OF THE 20TH CENTURY! One of those intersting people to be kicked out of Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia and HUAC America for "questionable political and philosophic views", the centuries prototype troubadour in the streets complete with dirty clothes and filthy teeth!

Bertoldt Brecht

I have heard Bertoldt Brecht's name tossed around before but never knew much about him. Just from perusing some of his stuff and listening to an interview with him on youtube he is certainly fascinating and a unique artist.

This guy lived down the street from me when I was growing up during the 60's in Coconut Grove. He would often wander over to drink with my mother when he ran out of booze, but she would always make him bring his 12 string over and sing for his spirits (and ours). During the mid and late 70's, until I moved to north Florida, I frequently shared the stage with him at the Feedbag and the Old Grove Pub. I read in Rolling Stone about 5 years back that he died broke and alone in the little shack where he was living on Lower Matacombe Key.....

(By the way, playing with him on this recording is Felix Papillardi on bass and John Sebastian on harp)

You've probably heard of him, or at least heard the most famous song he wrote:

He also does a cool version of this old song that Arlo plays from time to time:

Sadly, I've never seen or heard about any videos of him playing.....

Burn what ever you can from you tube to a disc. For "they" are cracking down on stuff for the copy right laws. Lost about half a dozen that were posted on my blogs, or were going to be posted. Lost some good ones.

1-09-09 about 3:30 am.

Thanks for the info. I have saved some of the ones I really like. I have so many saved in my favorites that I could never save them all. Shame they are cracking down when the vids are just up there so folks can see them...
