Hi, I just wanted to pay tribute to both Woody and Arlo Guthrie. I am a New Zealander and was in America 2001 travelling up from Tampa Bay to New York (home at the time) on a bus. We'd travelled all through the night and as morning broke somewhere in the South I heard the song City of New Orleans coming from the drivers radio. I went up front and asked him to turn it up. He did and him and I sang that song together while we drove over bridges and through forest. In that song, at that moment in time, I could see and feel America as it must have been through the 40's, 50's and 60's. It was a truly special moment and one I will always remember. A hauntingly beautiful song. I made it home to New York and unfortunately a few months later the world changed. I also gave birth to my only child at that time. Always that song echoed through my head. I came back to New Zealand with my son. Thankyou to Woody and to Arlo for that beautiful song, that now holds so many memories for me. And thankyou to the bus driver who appreciated and shared such fine music with me.

That posting is obviously spam; price we pay for having an unmoderated group. I guess Dave has to kick him (her) off, right?
