My iPod frequently chooses three or four cd's I've uploaded onto it, and will alternate songs from those for a good long time; it sounds like yours chose Arlo and Dylan to alternate; it can also choose one artist and another, and alternate songs. It can be entertaining when it chooses wildly different genres...like traditional Irish Bothy Band tunes, and Broadway show songs.

i seem to feel like a virgin of reality the older i get! i love firesign theater's "don't crush that dwarf, hand me the pliers" and there's a voice in the background on the album that says "what is reality!" and sometimes it feels like a valid question.

I saw that yesterday; I feel sorry for the neighbors . Bob's probably got the porta-pooper located far away from HIS house so he doesn't have to smell it!
We've got one of those at the stable I volunteer at...it gets serviced once a week, and unless it's the middle of summer, you can't smell it even five feet away. Makes me wonder...what the heck are those security guards eating?? And is the company who services it taking proper care? One of those shouldn't provide fragrance to a whole neighborhood...something is wrong there.

I was never able to get my heart wrapped around Dylan. Again, I like the songs, I just don't resonate with the man hisself or at least the image of the man. Even interacting with some of his entourage later, there is this too-smart-to-care-about-what-you-feel feel. I know that is distance, the star machine, the pressure etc., so nothing against him at all. It's projections.

Maybe it's background or the gestalt. When I would see pictures of Dylan, if he had a book, it was some French poet and there would be a skinny gal somewhere in the background. None of us read that or had that so if the press called him "The Hippie", we accepted that and went on. When we got Hobo's Lullaby at 18 years old, there was Jackie holding up a baby and there was Arlo reading Thor. So we said, "Aha! One of us! A Freak!"

Hippies and Freaks? Was there a difference?

One of those skinny gals on the cover of a record album of his (early 60's) was my friend's sister. Funny, too, because he was on the chubby side. Both he and his sister, by the way, came from a very straight-laced Republican family; guess she was "rebelling" when she struck the pose for the album cover.

Again, nothing against Dylan. He is the genius they say he is and went out on the limb for music. It's just a limb I can't sit on. Dylan was hijacked by the stuffed shirts down front in my opinion.
